Question on finding backlinks

I have my first site that I put together a few weeks ago. I have a daily checklist I follow for the SEO. I used SENuke and Unique Article Wizard to put out articles and social bookmarks. I have pages on Hub, squidoo, weebly, scribd, blogger, wordpress, youtube video, and a few more linking back to main site. Not to mention all the social bookmarks that I did!

I got the page to #1 on google for a particular set of keywords and on the first page of google for another set of keywords. That was for a 2 weeks. I was happy. Feeling good, no sales though, but thats for another topic.

All of a sudden it dropped to 12 place on google. Not happy anymore. I had 30+ visits a day now down to 6 a day.

So I was checking my backlinks and...

Went to findmypagerank(dot)com and I came up with this. Notice backlinks - all 0. What happened? I'm confused. I must be doing something wrong?

  • Could be that you built backlinks too fast maybe, but be patient. A new site always goes through this kind of thing. Just build slowly over time with a variety of linking methods and you should be fine.

    • The question is did you have links in there before and they disappeared, or did you only get this.
      Anyway Google takes a long time to list links in such listings; so the links exist (otherwise you could not have been #1), but they are not yet listed in that list, that is all.
      With respect to dropping in rank, it seems that this is a common feature, there is a novelty effect first and then a correction. Next step is to go back to work and show to Google what you've got.
