Advice for sudden decrease in ranks

It's been 4 hard months now after the demise of my website. I have paid huge sums of money and spent many many hours on forums trying to discover why I went from 850 clicks a day to 80. Many people told me that I was punished by Google and that I would never recover.

My first step was to take down the automated backlinks that I was subscribed to.
My second step was to hire a company to manually create creditworthy backlinks, press releases etc
My third step, and believe it or not this is what I think solved my issues, was to change my SEO plugin - so simple!

My message to everyone is DO NOT GIVE UP. My site is now seeing more than 1000 visitors a day.

It would be more helpful if you showed what you changed about your SEO plugin.

    • Just create a new site. Much easier unless there is brand equity in the old site that's really valuable. De-index the old site. Transfer the content over. Try and change in links you KNOW are good. And just start building links safely and correctly.
  • If you do not mind to share, what plugin you used before and what are you using now ?
  • Oh come on, you really think an SEO plugin did this? Yaost plugin has everything you need to make your site (hate this phrase) SEO friendly. It was your worthy backlinks and good content that has pushed you back up, not the plugin.
  • SEO plugin - sounds awful

    • You could reverse engineer it for Neg SEO on your comp. Give up the name of this plugin.

  • I understand your sarcasm, but. It is true that a SEO plugin can't get you from page 100 to page 0 without doing anything else. However, the penguin and penguin 2.0 plugins were for over optimisation, and we have panda updates for content spam. A seo plugin can hurt you if it is trying to add 20 meta values auto generated for every page.

This can be considered over optimisation. Naturally you will never put a manual description to each blog or page. But a seo plugin that automatically does this for you might let google think that you have duplicate content ( autogenerating the same description and keywords for many pages ).

So, removing the seo plugin might do some good.
