Two of My EzineArticles are #1 for their keywords...

Well after some great keyword optimization and backlinking I got two of my articles sitting at #1 for their keywords. While they are getting great traffic, they arent bringing much traffic to my landing page due to poor resource boxes... So my question is, if I edit my resource box do I have to re-submit the article and will I lose my position on google?

Yes you do have to resubmit

I just resubmitted two of my articles today that were ranked highly on Google because they had the wrong resource box. I had trouble during the submission process and the default box attached. I did not want any box as I had already included the resource in the body of my article.

Since I resubmitted, now when I click the articles from their position in Google it goes to dead links.

The articles are in que for reapproval...will have to see if they get indexed again and what happens to the dead links.

They should just stay in the same position....

The dead links will go... and will go quicker if you 'ping' the dead links too.

Then your new articles should appear top yet again however i would recommend pinging these too when they are accepted and getting some bookmarks too.

You can contact ezine articles themself and ask them to just edit the resource box for you (i did so) and they will do it most of the time.

Hope that helps and way to go... great keyword research i think.

Nice job, that's the power of a well written keyword focused article.

I had an article that ranked number 1 for a great keyword, and I made a change to the resource box and resubmitted. While in review, it dropped off Google. I then got a notice that the article was rejected because it was a duplicate of another I had posted. Both had been live for a couple of years - and they were not duplicates. I didn't argue, just deleted the other article.

Finally, the article was reapproved, and within a week it was back in its number one spot.

edit it early in the morning on a Wednesday or Tuesday and it is usually approved the same day. It is for me anyways.

I think it just shows how important the resource boxes are.
But you did a great job anyhow, and it gave you also the possibility to see that you have to improve on your resource box, and this is also a very important lesson.
I hope you will be able to fix it with the advices you had here.

If you edit the article, and it is queued up for review, you will most probably still retain the top position. The only thing is that when searchers click on your listing, they will be taken to a page not found page. You will lose traffic for a few days, but nothing should happen to your search rankings.

I have edited my top ranking article on EZA which receives more than 50 or so visitors per day and ranked 1st for a competitive keyword. I didn't lose the ranking even after editing it and the article got approved within a few days.

The good thing is that ezine folks will approve your edited article quickly usually within 2 working days unlike new articles which might take upto 7 days sometimes to get approved. So you can probably go ahead and edit your article. I do think it is safe based on my experience!

Since we are also talking about kick butt resource boxes I have a question for you guys!

My ezine articles point to my squidoo lenses but I am concerned that it is possibly diluting my CTR, having to click once to get to the lens and then again to get to the offer. Any thoughts on that?
In the resource box should I have both my squidoo URL and the offer URL and if so which should come first for better conversions?

Thanks, I am having some success but think that it could be better!
