When optimizing a service site what meta keywords do you use for pages like, Our Portfolio, Contact Us, Pricing?

I dont understand if you should just use the hompepage general keywords or add specific keywords for those pages (of which I cant think of any).

One of the key things you need to remember is that you don't really have any good content on these pages so really there's no point in optimizing them. In fact, an overly optimized website gets a penalty these days so if it's a contact us page then just call it a contact us page because that's what big g expects to see. If you try to optimize a contact page for "dog training" then how natural does that look?

On the the other hand, you mentioned a pricing page, which could be optimized if built properly. If you can get some original content on the same page then you have a chance to rank for keywords like "quote" or "how much" or "cost of" ... followed by your product.

I dont mean keywords on the actual pages. I mean the meta keywords you can add.

Doesn't matter for Google SERPs. You can stuff meta keywords all day, Google will just ignore them. Traffic will never see the meta keywords so it still doesn't matter what keywords you use.

I've heard that also. But I wonder if it's true. And even if it's true, it's probably true some ways of optimizing and not true for some other ways of optimizing. Who made this rule?

Stuff your meta keyword tag with a fake keyword (ex: dohysozttyje) & see If Google finds it.
