Is sending paid traffic to your blog profitable?

Hello everyone,

I'm always looking for ways to expend my business and add new incomestreams. Because I want constant cashflow I'm a big fan of buying traffic. If your earning-per-visitor is higher than the cost-per-click, then it's just a matter of investing money in it and see profit real soon.

I was wondering, have any of you made any profit by buying traffic to your blog?

My plan is to create some blogs about niches that I'm interested in but I don't have the patience to wait on SEO rankings. This is how the blogs will look like (kind of):

- 20 high quality blog posts.
- Optin box in the blogposts and in the sidebar.
- $19 product that will be pitched after the visitor opts-in.
- $47 product in the autoresponder sequence.

Do you guys think I have any chance of profit when I send traffic to a blog like this, or should I just send the traffic to the products right away?

Thanks .

You'd better setup a sales funnel and buy paid traffic to the sales funnel, which can make full use of the traffic you bought. And you can take the sales funnel as the entry page of your blog, visitors can choose to join your sales funnel, or skip this step and go to your blog directly.

When it comes to paid traffic, you usually can get targeted laser traffic..
So there is always a chance you can make profit with it

Depends on the quality of the traffic, make sure the traffic is ultra niche focused, and do the things others have recommended here.

Set-up a squeeze page instead and send the traffic there and from there you can decide to send them where you want but that will after you have captured their name and email.

The average optin can convert 50% but you will NEVER get that with email, not even by using pop-up.

    I hope this helps

Don't just send traffic to your blog. Send them to a squeeze page and build your list, you can always send them to your blog later when they are on your list. People need direction and need to be told what to do. Never miss an opportunity to generate a lead.

awesome post! without a list you do not have a business. leads should be your key energy and main practice.

Lets say your site goes down, or google bans, you. you still have a list to send to your new site, or affilaite offers, and with fresh leads coming in every day, you have expandable business you can make money off of whenever you want.

Each day we generate 100's of leads, and its the single biggest thing I focus on every day to make money, and it does not just work ok, it killer. Lead generation should be one of the big things you focus on, if you want you business to survive and thrive....i am sure many veteran warriors agree. :-)

Here was our testing from back in 2008

PPC > Blog with optin form at the bottom of each post. (Optin rate 8%) Not that good.

PPC > Landing page > which then went to blog. (OPTIN RATE 41%)

Emailing marketing for us has been working better in 2013 than any other year and we tell our coaching students, if you are not building a list, then you are waisting your time online.

I think I have demonstrated above that sending PPC traffic to your blog is a waist of money, we have made thousands in 2013 by sending to a landing page and marketing to those people and your are building your list in the process.

This is what works for us and having nice highly converting funnels on the back-end, which is linked to paid memberships also. Making a nice substantial income each month.

Thank you. Building a sales funnel is what I'm learning now as an IM student. Love to see posts like this from the vets confirming that indeed this strategy converts.

        no probs.

If I had to start all over again, I should have built bigger lists from day one. Its my only regret cause it works that well, when done right!

What you have to realise is that you make many mistakes and you have to come up with a business plan that works. For us it was the list building thing. When we tested and worked out what worked, it changed my whole business, profits and my life.

Also my tip for building funnels is it will take you a few goes, do not give up cause the first one did not work. Its just about testing, and working it right, once this is in place, you need to pump as much traffic as you can to the start of your funnel.

While I am not saying sending PPC to a blog is ok, but I think you will get much more bang for you buck, by sending traffic to a squeeze page first. Especially if you have a high converting squeeze / lander page too. For us this has been killer, and I make 20 times more what I use to earn in a 9 - 5 job, and these days I probably work about 2-3 hours a day tops. :-)

This is exactly what I need. Not entirely about list building but IM in general. When you've spent hard earned cash to IM and you get no revenues it's a tough pill to swallow. But I've already decided to continue this regardless.

Wow! I'm making 4-5 times money as a freelancer now compared to my day job. But your numbers are just off the roof!

Working 2-3 hours a day, that part is really what drives me now to be successful in IM. I've realized that no matter how big my active income is, I still don't make any money when I stop working. From the looks of it, passive income is really risky and more hard work at first, in the long run however, it's very rewarding once you find the right formula that works for you, like you did.

Fighting for the attention of Search Engines, or Spending money to buy visitors...

It sounds like you are avoiding the one thing you need... People.

Stop looking for the quick fix and start looking for your potential customer. They're easier to find than you think, and finding one usually finds a crowd.

Most of the time you will get a much better bang for your buck by sending visitors (especially PPC visitors) to a squeeze page that lets me build my list.
You can always send them to a blog later after you have them on your list.

I send most of my PPC traffic to a relevant offer that is generally a free offer or a very low cost offer (if traffic is highly targeted) then after they opt in I immediately send them to an OTO before they can download the initial offer.

If they don't want the OTO sometimes I will send them to a down-sell before giving them access to the original offer.

    Remember to test EVERYTHING constantly.

Set up your original squeeze page and relevant offer.

Once you have that converting decently, 25% or better, design a relevant OTO. Once you have that converting decently design a Downsell and get that converting at a decent rate.

If you do this correctly, you can build your list and bring the cost of your PPC traffic down to next to nothing.

Just get them on that Damn List. That is your main priority.

Whether that be a landing page on Blog turned into a Static Site or a traditional squeeze page,it doesnt't matter.

(Note: For things outside PPC and SEO, particularly Article Marketing thru Syndication, having a Landing page on a Static Site with an optin at very top is best for actual product Conversions than a traditional squeeze page. Iam sure the top Article Marketers in here would agree.)
