for instance: lets say i want to position "plastic surgery Idaho" (not implying they need it, he), I make my main video and optimize it for that phrase, and then make shorter or alternate versions and upload them to other accounts with links to my main video.

does this really help?, and in what ways should I make these links if I want to position a particular video within the YT ranks?

1/ should it be a normal text link in the description? where exactly? at the beginning? does it matter the position of the link?
2/ annotation
3/ video response
4/ playlist: if I place popular videos, perhaps not even my own in a playlist with my videos afterwards does it place this playlist high at the results ranking? how do playlist rank?

thanks for any help guys

I think it'd do more good for that video's ranking if you could get it embedded on a few webpages, or get some dofollow links to it. Any link you put into any YouTube video's description is nofollow, and is technically not counted by the search engines.
