How does someone go 2 months & not know their index page isn't in the SERPs?

Anyways... do this, in this exact order:
    1. Build an xml sitemap with your index page/URL at the top of the sitemap.
    2. Add the xml sitemap URL at the top of your robots.txt file.
    3. Submit your xml file to Webmaster tools.

That's two permanent doorways for Google to land on your index page each time any page on your site is crawled or loaded in a browser. I guess you've already added the GWT site verification code in your site wide HTML.

    Hello Enuke,
if your robots.txt file has this line in it; User-agent: * Disallow it's basically telling every crawler on the web to not index ANY of your site's content.
Once check again your robot.txt file .if robots.txt file allow crawlers.
Make sure that page doesn't have these meta tags in the source code: <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">
Some other reasons also there like .htaccess badly configuration, sitemaps,Url Parameters, Spam, redirections...etc
And what about Other search engines such as yahoo, bing is your site indexed fine with other Search engines? Provide me your site URL i can help you

Good point about the noindex tag, I've seen plenty of people have that on the same web page they're trying to rank. Doesn't work very well for trying to rank a page.

Give it some time. If there is no more issue, it will be indexed soon.
