When I add new pages to my site, let's say an article, I try to get Google over to my site as quickly as possible. What I usually do first it submit my new page to Digg and then other social sites.
The Digg entry always shows up in Google within minutes.
Next I ping the new page.
At the same time I'll submit an updated xml sitemap to Google.
Once or twice my new page was indexed and searchable within hours. But every other time it takes days or even up to a week to show up.
It seems to me that Google spiders stick to their schedule and there's not much you can do to change it.
I suppose you need to add fresh content on a regular schedule until they start spidering you more often.
