Keyword research giving different results for same keyword?

Hello everyone.
Newbie here with a keyword research question. Hope this is the right place to post this, think my last post was deleted.
I am using the trial versions of market samurai and long tail pro.
When I do a search of the exact same keyword phrase in both I get very different results. Why would this happen?
In MS the # of monthly searches is around 4400 & CPC is around $4.50.
In LTP searches are around 2400 & CPC is around $2.00.
I am doing exact match searches as far as I can tell
