When do you delete a keyword? - PPC Campaign

Currently running a campaign with about 50 adgroups, split testing 2 ads and a low number of keywords in each one.

When do you say enough is enough with a keyword?

I mean you can keep split testing ads in an adgroup to improve CTR, but at what point do you think it's the keyword which is not working, not the ad?

It depends on how much you are paid for a conversion/sale and not much else.

However, don't expect a campaign to be converting optimally when you start it so you need to give your keywords a little room to get some data.

    Example:

You are paid $50 for a sale and your average cpc is $5. I would probably let a keyword run until it reaches 15 clicks (15 x $5 = $75).

If there has been 0 sales, delete the keyword and move on.

If you have 1 sale you might be able to optimize things to make it profitable.

If you have 2+ sales congratulations, it might be a fluke but it looks like you have a winner and with further optimization it could become amazing.

Again, how many clicks you want to buy before you make a decision about whether to keep or delete the keyword depends on avg. cpc and how much you are paid per sale/conversion.
