I use the market samurai and own the basic version of the long tail pro, but, the MS keeps crashing and not showing the competition and the LTP charges you a monthly fee, I wont need to use it that much that I'll need to subscribe. Can anyone tell me if there are any good tools around that can help me please.

Is it very accurate for your needs etc...

      Thanks

Edit: It's a monthly payment subscription to obtain the SEO competition analysis: http://www.jaaxy.com/order/ as mentioned I wont need to use it that frequently.

Long Tail Pro is Monthly subscription based now? Was one time fee when I purchased it a couple of years ago.

I personally use Google Keywords Planner + SEMRush btw.

Thanks, it is indeed a subscription now yes unfortunately. I use the GKP as well but the (low / high) is not very helpful to be honest. I'l check out the SEMRush though thanks.

    re: Jaaxy -

A couple of key components in this tool seem to not be working - all competing websites come up with a '0' PR - and no YT videos are showing up. Manually checking provides far different information. I've been trying to get a response from Jaaxy for more than 2 weeks - and no response so far, so not happy with that.

The keyword research part is great - but when these two pieces are not responding accurately - you have to question how accurate the rest of the data is....

How do you get SemRush to show exact searches instead of phrases.

I wouldn't classify Market Samurai, Micro Niche Finder or Longtail Pro as a keyword research tool, yeah sure they can create lists of keywords but that's about it.

For true competition analysis you need something more, try SerpIQ or the competition checker from Moz.com and you'll end up with way more reliable data.

Both aren't exactly cheap and they aren't capable of handling large lists of keywords as it takes quite long to get the data, but that's cause they harvest relevant data instead of some nonsense like # searches "in title" etc.

What I used to do when I wanted to know the competition was take a quick look at Google with SEOquake installed, and then I looked specifically at the pagerank of the ranking pages, among other things however with the infrequent Google toolbar PR updates that isn't very useful either.

If you are into paid solutions that do all the work for you there is only one solution:
Keyword Research Tool & SEO Management Software - SECockpit
    pros:
    - in the cloud as SAAS
    - does SEO competition analysis very quickly for up to 800 keywords in 1 minute, where it check all important SEO metrics (from SEOmoz) for top 10 websites ranking for each keyword.

but this might be quite expensive since it is based on monthly fee around 90usd.

If you are looking for something with one time fee:
Keyword Blaze Pro. The Only Keyword Tool You Will Ever Need
    it also uses SEOmoz data.

    BUT...
    the most important question is:
what is the goal of your keyword research?
what kind of websites do you need to buy and how many?

From my experience the tools come second, first is always strategy and for that strategy you should look for solutions.

Write something more or contact me via PM and maybe I will be able to give you better advice.

I've been a long time user of SECockpit and love the fact I can do a full competition analysis of hundreds or even thousands of keywords in minutes.

Obviously it depends on your exact keyword research requirements as SECockpit is a premium tool that's expensive if you are only using it for occasional searches.
