Quite afew pages on my site dropped last night anyone else had movement ?

The guys over at Seroundtable were chattering about some update over the 8th-9th, I myself though have not seen any drastic changes over the sites I am working on/managing.

Seems to be some algorithm update that narrowly effects a small percentage of webmasters drastically.

Ouch my best page has dropped to number 10 so much for the massive adsense paydays I`ve been getting lol

Was this a new Google Update or not ?

Yes, 2 of my sites didn't move at all. I only used PR homepage backlinks and social bookmarks to those.

One of my sites did fall from page 1,#1 to page 1#5. And a subpage fell from page 1,#7 to page 2,#10.

It's a backlink overoptimization update i think. Also the pages that fell had web 2.0 link pyramids to them. 10 backlinks to money page and 30 backlinks to the first tier. Did only 1 backlink package to 1 money page. It's also possible that those web 2.0 link pyramids got devalued which caused the rankings to drop.

I will only use pr homepage backlinks and social for now on. My backlink anchor text wasn't that overoptimized but i think going forward it's best for most of our backlinks to be url backlinks and stuff like, "click here to learn more", ect. backlinks. Your keyword really doesn't need to be in the anchor text at all.

If your backlink is on a page on the same topic as your money site page then G knows it's a related niche backlink and your good. Having the keyword in the anchortext at all is just too risky now.

Just checked my backlink anchor and really its not too bad and I`ve only used backlinks from my own sites but I had tons of articles and I sent them all to ezine-articles and pointed them to my site with a mixture of keyword and url anchor text bet that screwed it up !

But your right from now I`m going to be very careful with the anchor text very careful coz thats the only thing I did slightly wrong with this site ! Dam one day I`m going to create the perfect site I`m getting closer lol !!!!!!

There was some Update on 9th Jan... I lost around 50% traffic to one of my site........ Now it is recovering..
