Learning PPC

How does someone learn PPC? I have read books, I have seen info products, I have talked to adowrds management companies. Reading just doesnt cut it, I need to see examples,ut no one teaches the basics. No one talks about how you how to start your first campaign, or how to turn your tests into profits. I feel lost swimming in a sea of professionals that are not willing to teach.

I feel that I am simply left to trial and error, and I just dont think that is the way it should be.

I see numerous messages on this board of "how" and "why" but no real answers.

So where do I start? Where do the other members on the forums start? Where can we find answers?

I dont expect someone to spread their "secret sauce" or to do it for me, but when Im starting at my campaigns and they are not running it would be nice to have someone to turn to (other than google customer service who never seem to answer). I am VERY willing to pay someone to teach me the ropes. A PPC bootcamp maybe?

    • That'd be a great name for a product. PPC Bootcamp (checked domain but it's registered). I wanted to ask you guys if you had tried Commission Blueprint?

Honestly I was where you guys are and when I got that info things started to really make sense. But still pieces were missing so I built my own PPC system.

Man, I'd love to share it with you but I know people would take it, repackage it, claim it as their own, and by the next day it would probably be selling on this forum or somewhere else. I'm thinking about turning it into a product but don't know how much I should charge.

Chances are you've already seen Google's tutorials?

google.cOm/adwords/learningcenter/ (can't post links yet I guess... post count not high enough)

Let me give you some advice though... don't try and build campaigns manually - one keyword at a time, one ad at a time... Adwords Editor is a serious tool when you know how to leverage it.

Don't know if this helped or not.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Would people be interested in a webinar such as Goto Webminar where you could see what I do and how I do it? I'm putting this together and there would be about 8-10 segments of about 1.5 hours. What would you be willing to pay? I would include a few hours of one-on-one consultation as well.
  • A good way to learn from is from Adwords help section.

Secondly if you are that dependent on teachings - you can go to ppc-coach.com which is a ppc mentorship program that takes you by the hand like you wanted.
  • Yes, Adwords learning center is the best place to learn the basics. I hoped that I started to learn the basics first from Google. Make yourself comfortable with the basics first and then read those PPC guides from the gurus.hehehe...
  • thanks for the unput will be reading those guides over the next few days.
  • The Adwords learning center is not targeted twards the new interface. The new interface also has terms that are not listed in the learning center (broken links etc)

I my self am interested in how other people organize their campaigns, how the research keywords and what tools they use.

Thing like ROI and what do I sell are more advanced topics and not really what I my self am searching for.

  • I have come across wonderful posts on this forum where a step by step guide is given on some good topics. I wish someone can do that on PPC. I think there are many newbies out there that want a step by step guide that is free or at least inexpensive. If you know of such thread, please post here. thanks
  • Stop wasting time seeking out others for something that you must actually do to learn . Open an AdWords account and put a small amount of money in it and marketing yourself or something that you believe in.
  • > Stop wasting time seeking out others for something that you must actually do to learn

It can take months to really get PPC. Seeking someone to get a better start out of the gate is a good idea. So, learn from someone, continue learning from that to improve.
  • There are a lot of good resources out there for someone willing to dig. Ask questions. I just read a great post on warrior forum: search for AdWords Tips From a $5,000/mo Affiliate

    Awesome.
  • AdWords Tips From a $5,000/mo Affiliate

isnt as much about starting as refining what works for you.

Again I state how nothing shows you how to start PPC

No one talks about how to organize campaigns, or how to refine campaigns.

Most products on the market are targeted at people that are running campaigns that want to turn them into a success.

@paulchri : Seeking the knowledge of someone else is a step to true fulfillment only a fool will search blindly.
  • Oneano, I am putting together a product that will show you everything. I'll let you know when it's finished. If anyone else wants to know more, send me a private message.

    • If I had to go back in TIME this is the 3 stage approach I would use: learn, practice and improve.

      -----------------
      Stage #1: Learn
      -----------------

See ALL the materials from the learning center for about 20-30 days.

      ------------------
      Stage #2: Practice
      ------------------

Spend $100-$500 testing 1-3 affiliate offers from ClickBank for about 5-15 days (this depends on the amount of traffic the keywords you choose can receive per day). NOTE: If for any reason you are tight on money, set the daily budget from campaigns to $5-$10 per day.

      ------------------
      Stage #3: Improve
      ------------------

Now that you have a mix of THEORY and PRACTICE and EXPERIENCE (if you fail in step #2 use that as feedback for gradual improvement!), than invest some money in PPC Classroom so you can see the "BIG picture".

You will NOT regret that decision. I was a member for the main content and it is really valuable. The best content I've seen about PPC in years. Their are professionals and are 100% willing to teach you. Just read their testimonials!

  • > How do you learn to play a piano?

Well, most people in the beginning would have a teacher. Teach them how to read music, some techniques. Sure, you could learn all that by trial and error. But a teacher would speed things up, show early on mistakes to avoid. I think oneano is looking for a teacher for those same reasons.

    • I partially agree on this and for one reason.

PPC classroom has now what... 21.000 students?

For what I have seen not so many newbies who joined
the "teachers classes" were able to "get it" fast... even
after they have gone through all the modules inside.

So, teachers can help a LOT, but they won't make it
work in all cases (and the reverse is also true I know)
as you need to get some experience in all cases to get
familiar with the PPC systems and components in place!

Note: I am speaking "in general" about the "majority"
of members, because I do know there are some excellent
stories of newbies who got success inside in little time.
      (Which is GREAT!)

After doing this since 2003 I can say that PPC is somewhat
"complex" especially in the EARLY learning stages, as there
are many components you need to master simultaneously.

And that's probably WHY you fell "lost"!

Therefore, starting small to later expand makes better
sense to me personally. And what I also think for what
I am reading here in the forum is that you have finished
stage #1 and what to skip to stage #3. You are seeking to
improve so you can AVOID mistakes. That's fine!

In such case, whether you chooses a teacher or PPC classroom,
those are BOTH excellent choices to play the piano. And if I
were in your position I would choose BOTH!

You'll get different insights in both sides which can potentially
make you move faster to your end goal. Good luck!

      Frederico Vila Verde

      P. S. Just remember that PLAYING the piano is how
      you make money.

  • The best experience of learning is always by doing and testing. You can over read, and over analyze how to do things, but in the end, your not going to get anywhere with PPC until you crawl "inside the machine" and poke around and find out how it works yourself.
