Software only goes so far - it's often better just to look at the top 10 results and examine them yourself, including clicking them to see what they're doing.

Sites like ahrefs and Majestic will show some backlinks but keep in mind that (like all private crawlers) they aren't allowed into all sites and their crawl rate will be different from Google.

There are quite a few threads on this forum comparing different methods (often easier to search using Google's site: command) but keep an eye on the date of the threads as things change over time.

When I want to do this, I use the free edition of Traffic Travis. You can pay for it if you want the additional benefits, but the free version is good enough ti show you the top ten or twenty results in Google, the back links and other information in a grid, for easy reference.

No tool is 100% accurate, it takes high level combination of SEO know how and manual work to get a good estimate.

However, the SEO PowerSuite tools ain't bad at all specifically:

You can use Google Analytic for all the best results; this could be better help you to find all solutions regarding your query.

It depend on you that which type of software you required, if you want analytic software then Google Analytic Tools are so good that is free of cost and also you can use Google webmaster tools that can track your website health without taking any charges. SEOmoz is also great tool.

Those that use traffics Travis, do you have any issues with it? I downloaded the program and ran it on my own sites and it says I have no alt tags or keywords on any of my products. I look myself and I do. I'd hate to pay for the full version only to find I can't trust the results it's showing me.

I love xrumer and hrefer. They work well together. Xrumer can be trained for just about any platform and it still can be used to rank websites.

I don't use any backlinking software on my moneysite unless it's a churn and burn project. I do all my tier 1s manually, but then their 2 and up are all automated.

In my opinion SEO Nuke X is the best SEO Software to find all seo errors and solution. But the cost of license is very high and have to pay monthly bills.

You have to remember that competition analyzers are simply supplements to make work done faster and not a replacement to your SEO knowledge in analyzing your site versus competition.

For you to have an in-depth analysis on the market, you have to learn to analyze manually. You don't even have to pay for any tool (except using Ahrefs FREE version but if done multiple times, you might need a subscription).

Moz is as useful as Google for backlinks.

Use majestic/ahrefs, they both compliment each other and the good thing is they give you a lot of data free before you hit their limit.

For keyword competition, no idea. I don't bother with that

From my opinion you have to use Ahrefs Tool to checking backlinks of the competitors.

One can get a free SEO tool that's open source and has some decent 3rd party plugins that are one off purchases to flush out the features.

I guess slow and steady by doing SEO perfectly will be the better option still if you badly needed a software then I have a very good software to talk about but i think you should be very patient and keep posting good content and do SEO for your website manually rather then using software.
