Does having Adsense increase your page rank?

Hey Warriors,

I started thinking about this yesterday when I started setting up my AdSense account. Google makes money from people that have blogs/websites with AdSense on it - right? People pay Google (AdWords) so Google will put up ads on blogs etc. then Google splits that money with the website/blog owner that agreed to put AdSense on his blog.

So... it's obviously in Google's interest to rank you higher in the search engines - because they make money out of you. What do you think?

It's not impossible. Imagine 2 blogs that are identical, but one has AdSense and the other doesn't - If I was Google, I'd probably rank the one with AdSense higher because he'll make me money. Now this may be small money per blog - but look at it at a larger scale, hundreds, thousands, millions of blogs that have AdSense - why wouldn't Google give them some advantage, it's HUGE money for Google.

    I don't think so.

On the other hand, I feel when you use Adwords, their PPC service, your SERP/PR does go up slightly. Argumentative though....I have seen this happen to only one of my sites, could be sheer co-incidence, as I had also added about 30 articles to the same site just a few days before advertising using Adwords...

I don't think google will place you better if you have adsense for your blog/website. They are place you with their own algorithm calculation.

This thing is not a part of their Search Patent. In fact, they have a separate Patent for Adsense and Adwords so I don't think say they are doing any such thing.

Someone should do a test. Setup a site. Let it get nice and ranked. Then after a good amount of time goes by, throw up some adsense and see what happens.

Well no, Google AdSense has nothing to do with PR. But anyway you can run a test and let us know how it does ?

NO, adsense and adwords have zero effect on PR. If Google where just out to make money from ranking adsese pages higher in the serps then they would have left the 4 billion VRE Adsense doorway pages in the index that they spent millions trying to get rid of.

Those sites filled the first page of Google for every keyphrase known to man. So much spammy shit came up in the results back then. Some of those doorway page domains had over 10 million pages indexed in Google.

Google want their company to last so they wouldnt comprimise that by offering spammy serps to make a little more profit.

adense ads are servred via a javascript inserted into your html and scripts are ignored when they crawl/evauate your site/page. So, no it makes no difference.
