Shopify vs Custom made sites....

Do you think it can make a big difference having a professionally customized website made for an ecommerce store compared to a bought template- nice one but not customized as much as one done by a designer?

Anyone here experience sales and seo increases from a fully customized site?


Our site is in a niche that with seo done right I think could turn into a legit business again and we're considering going for a newly customized site with a design agency - and seeing what prices are offered and what kind of sites can be done. I imagine it'll probably be at least a few hundred to a thousand plus a thousand more for seo a month, etc...

    Not really. Shopify has some really nice themes you can buy including on Theme Forest, so you don't need to have a custom-built one. It just needs to look good and easy to use.

    You can also consider using WooCommerce and buying a theme for that as well. There's no monthly fee like with Shopify, but you do have to buy a few extensions to get started. But it's all on WordPress so you can use Yoast SEO and other WP SEO plugins to do on-site SEO optimization.

    Thanks. That sounds interesting if our site can be hosted with no fee like on Shopify.

    That could save us money too if it turns out seo is mostly our issue since we barely get visits like we used to. It looks like seo may be the key and maybe some slight additions into the theme.
