hi i just want to know how social networking sites like linked in can be used for seo optimization.

  • If you've got company name that has not too much search competition you can use social media profiles to push every other link from the first page of Google. It also makes your company look active.

    Links you get from these sites tend to be nofollow, and the profile pages may not even have pagerank. In my opinion you should use social media sites to connect to the users and get some traffic if you can. If you get any SEO benefit it's a nice plus.
  • Social Media sites can increase your site's ctr and page views which some expert says one of the factor that Google is looking for to rank a site. Plus social media sites can be use to attract possible clients by sharing interesting stuff which is linked to your site.

    • How would Google know about that CTR and page views? They're tracking search and Adwords, but that link is not on Google's web property. I don't believe Google would use something like Analytics to get this data, and experts tend to agree that having the Analytics tracking code has no effect on Google rankings.

      There seems to be no good evidence for "social signals" being one of the ranking factors, and Matt Cutts in fact says that it's not as far as he knows.
