I've got keyword research and on-page seo down pretty well for now. I have little experience in backlinking.

So far I have looked at 2 methods:

2-3 Tiered Backlinking & Expired PR Domains

From what I've heard 2-3 tiered backlinking is a lot less effective but still can work.

Expired PR Domains seem to be better but yield a much bigger learning curve.

Im not trying to rank for super competitive terms. I do thorough KW research to ensure im targeting low comp keywords usually 1-3k search volume.

Im building niche sites to earn 100-500$ each per month.

In 2014 what type of backlinking should I be doing here? What should I be researching over the next week?

This is the final step for me to be earning some initial cash for my niche sites I've developed and I need to figure this out.

Thanks

I would suggest you to build relevant links and you can use any technique which helps you to do that.

However you should also use Google+ to promote your content and it actually helps you to rank higher in Google.

You can also use Facebook to promote your content. Always try to build natural links.
