Good ranking but not that many visitors

Hi,

I've been doing some SEO for one of my pages, which have reached a position of 14 on google. According to wordtracker the term should receive around 4.600 searches per month. However I have not really seen an increase in visitors on my page (only one yesterday, according to AdSense).

Have you experienced something like this, and is it really just because I'm not on the top 3 on google with that page?

Regards,
Thomas

Don't rely on Wordtracker. No tool is 100%. Have you tried Google External Keyword Tool? What figures do they give?

Seen as though you are so close, get onto page 1 and see if there is an increase in traffic there. If so, then the top 3 can only be better.

Cross-reference numerous tools results to get an high level idea about what is going on in terms of searches.

About your ranking: 14 will get you very few traffic considering most people will click either on ads or on the first 3 results.

I agree with the above comments, no tool is 100 %

btw.. 4.600 searches per month is only 1 click every 9 or 10 days, so it depends on how long your campaign has been running.

try to improve your rankings for targeted keywords

Some countries use a period instead of a comma to separate number groups. I'm pretty sure he's talking about four thousand six hundred searches a month lol not 4.6

To check for keyword searches on google what better source than google adwords keyword tool. I mean why would you look for information at other sources if they are giving you this option, do not rely on the first keyword tool you found on the web

At position 14 (page 2) there is no way you will see that kind of traffic. You need to be at least on page 1 but preferably pos.5 or better.

You need to build links, with the keyword as the anchor, from high pr sites to boost your ranking. Blog commenting is the easiest way to do this.

Check out Rank4 - Get indexed and ranking in less time for a free blog post search tool where you can find blog posts in your niche. Then feed the urls into a program like PaRameter to check the PR.

You will get a bump when you hit page 1. Then you will get a bigger bump when you get above the fold. And you will get the biggest bump when you hit#1.

    Thanks for all the replies.

The number is four thousand six hundred, just to be sure.

On Wordtracker it says about 4.600 searches per month but google's keyword tool says almost nothing. I thought that wordtracker was pretty reliable?

I've done some article marketing for the page, with no great results regarding SEO, so now I'm using Angela's list, which have gotten me the new position at 14. Actually, as I write this, the position has dropped significantly but I suspect that that is because of the new links I've just gotten, so that it should be back on top in a few days.

Regarding wordtracker. Can there really be such a big difference so that wordtracker says 4600 searches and google almost nil?
And could that really be why I don't see a huge increase in traffic (due to that google is right)?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Thomas
