  • Depends on what level of seo you are talking about.

SEO directly to the page linked? No.

SEO indirectly, as answer may be found on google, then perhaps clickout on link.

I don't know if anyone has a term for that or not.

    • is what the backlinks yahoo answers helped to ranking in google search ?
  • Although it doesn't have that much link juice...answering questions that are relevant to your niche actually puts you out there.

    • Yahoo Answers links are not 'seo links' but they can bring you lots of targeted visitors to your site.

  • Agreed, these links are best for targeted traffic. YA is also a good place to discover new topics to write about.
  • Some might argue that nofollow links still play a role in things such as anchor text diversification so by having Yahoo Answers links (which I believe are plain URLs by default), you might be doing some good in terms of not getting over optimisation penalties.

Of course this is speculation as there is no solid evidence that this is the case.

I have some sites that get a small but steady trickle of traffic from answers I gave some years back so it can be good for this too I suppose.
  • Yahoo answer won't be of any significant help to your ranking, am sure your account will be banned too before nightfall if you indulge in purely link building with YA.

No follow as a link is great especially when it comes from authority sites.

    • Yahoo Q/A is a good practice to get nofollow backlinks,as per concern with seo factor,it will just give you some traffic and not so much improvement in seo rankings.
  • I could say these are SEO links. All the links serve as SEO. The effect isn't very profound, if you use it with 3 other answer sites and with other backlinking methods, it can work.

    • And I would say that's exactly the wrong info someone would give who
is touting a fiverr gig like that.

Check that...all links do serve as SEO....like negative SEO...ROTFLMAO!

Picking myself up off the floor, links that do nothing do exactly that: Nothing.
How can nothing be SEO? Oh, yeah. A lof seo peddlers are selling nothing.

  • I often find YA on the page one according to keywords of my article. so I always answer the questions as well as possible and do not forget to leave the url for more information. I got a good quality traffic because they come from search engines
  • YA is a great source of targeted traffic but don't help you make SEO backlinks.

    • I like YA links because they give a nice click-thru and people who visit my site from YA spend a good amount of time on my site enjoying my content and who knows, maybe they share my content on message forums, blogs, facebook, twitter...

With that said, Wikipedia links brings me the most traffic. For nofollow links, I really think Wikipedia is the best for traffic and time on site.

  • Good for sending referral traffic, that's about it though.
  • Yahoo answers can be decent source of targeted referral traffic if implemented with a plan on mind.
In terms of ranking these 'nofollow' backlinks may not have any effect on Google ranking (although debatable), it would surely play a major role on Yahoo search.
  • Google is evolving into authorship quality.
If a reputable member from Yahoo Answers use you site as reference it might get good traffic eventually and same as SEO authority.
But if its just new born spammy accounts, forget it.
  • For referral traffic its a good start, because if someone asks that same question again then your answer (best answer or not) will be displayed on the on the top of the search results.
And if you've got a level 2 answers account your links will be clickable. There's some "grey hat" methods that can be used with a level 2 account, since questions @ Yahoo Answers tend to rank pretty high in Google.
