Hi,

Just a quick one to ask how I can check entire sites for broken links? I know I can do each page manually, but this will take ages for lots of big sites.

Appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction!

P.s I know there are various paid services, was wondering if there is one for free?

You can use screaming frog. It does find broken links and also a lot more than that.

You may also try WebMeUp SEO tool.

The app's SEO Audit module detects all your site broken links (and other coding errors) that may be holding back your ranking progress.

Sclark do you work for Webmeup? The vast majority of your posts this year have been about webmeup. , suggesting their services or directly linking to various pages on their website which is very unusual for just an average customer.

One time payments software or even free software is available to check broken links. Some have been suggested here in this thread. xenu, screamingfrog etc. All adequate for the job.

If you are on WordPress there is a free plugin 'Broken Link Checker' that ca do the job as a background process and mark all the broken links that you can later fix or remove.

I didn't manage to find it... What's the process that it does in order to find those broken links?

I think Webmaster is the best tool to rectify broken links. You should try for it.

Xenu and screaming frog are the best for this, I personally prefer screaming frog though but some of my fellow mates prefer Xenu.

I recommend getting comfortable with one or the other, as they are both powerful tools that can help your site stay relevant.

Another vote for Screaming Frog over Xenu, SF has way more data that's easier on the eyes.

I'd use Screaming Frog too, but if you want free try Xenu (Win) or Integrity (Mac).

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?
