For example, you are selling clothings with similar style as GAP clothing.
GAP is a famous clothing brand.

Is it allowed to optimize SEO with 'GAP' or "GAP Style" as keywords?

    Yes, that's absolutely fine. A lot of online stores practice that, and it doesn't incur any trademark law violations.
    Just make sure that:
    • you don't violate any agreements with the company whose brand you promote;
    • you don’t deceive your website visitors and really offer what they are searching for;
    • avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings via manipulations with competitors keywords.
    Also, it's more preferable not to use the exact branded keywords. Try to use their variations instead (as @wrightandru mentioned).
