Since this morning one of my sites got hit hard and I lost a lot of traffic so I was wondering is any new google update up and running.
Particular site is few years old and survived all kind of google animals so there must be some new beast around.

Google updates its indexes around 500 a times a year. That's 1-2 times a day on average. Your site could have been hit by an algorithmic penalty. To confirm, go to your GWT (Google Webmaster Tools) account and check for site issues to see if there's a manual action. If it's an algorithmic penalty, you'd have to identify the problem and fix it, and you should see yourself back up in a couple of months.

Many of my friends who experienced it, many say that it is Google's new algorithm update, From 4K UV / day decreased to 4.

That should have read 'Google updates its algorithm around 500 a times a year.'

Check out Google Webmaster tools account and see if there is something wrong with it.

One of my sites has been going up and down for a particular keyword. Should I start a thread like this too?

Could you please state at least some information with these anecdotes? It doesn't really help if you just say that something is down. Also - if your site is going down in SERPs, there has to be another site that's going up. Not sure who am I quoting here, someone smarter than me has be saying that in threads like this.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

My site didn't just lost rank for particular keyword. My site traffic went down for like 80% and lost rankings for all keywords ranked well so it was some kind of penality. Should I now list few hundred keywords?

And site is around 2 years old and survived a lot of major google updates but not this one.

Google must be favoring my niche site because it increased in traffic by almost 50% today.

        Very happy with it

From what I can see, these types of threads being posted are completely useless.

Post this type of thread any day of the week saying, "oh my sites tanked, was there an update?".

And you are bound to have a half dozen replies saying "yeah mine tanked too, must be a big one".

Some sites up some sites down, day-in day-out. That's how search works and how SEO is.

      ^^^ Agreed.

I get a little tired of the "OMG my SERP changed, there must have been an update" threads...

It's just slightly more annoying then the "My PBN isn't working," "How do you buy domains," and "Is EMD better?" threads.
