Hello Guys i develop a website on Wordpress and made lot of posts about 7000. website was on sms and i paste one sms on each page. its permalinks settings disturbed by one of my friend and causes 404 errors in webmaster tool. Now site have 1720 404 errors after redirecting a lot in wordpress. Please Suggest me what to do and how to get rid of this. Site is getting traffic not too much about 100 daily organic. and i wanna run this website.

    First change your Wordpress Admin. password & stop letting people mess up your site.

    Look at one of the old Google Cache or Wayback pages & change the URL structure back to the old permalink.

  • 1. Please go to link Google Webmaster tools
    2. Then select the name of the blog You will be checked
    3. Click the Crawl >> Crawl Error is in the left side menu.
    4. You will see some link error

    Once you know what the link is now how to resolve URL error Crawl Error:

    1. Click the Remove URLs Google Index >>
    2. Copy the link name that the error was when my friend checked the crawl error

    3. Click Create a New Removal Request and paste the link error in the copy earlier.
    4. click Continue
    5. In Reason select Remove page from the search result and cache

    6. Click Submit Request
    7. Done. Staying wait until google link request to take action against the error.

    8. Do the same if there is another link error.

    Frequently check your blog stats in Webmaster Tools, there is a link in case other errors or duplicate content etc..

    • I don't understand why you're giving this as an advice. Why would you want to ask Google to remove the links from index? Or why would someone be willing to do this 1700+ times just to get rid of a message in GWT?

      Much better to fix the URL structure or redirect the 404's if it's possible. Crawl errors go away with a successful crawl (duh!).
