Categories or single posts?

Hi,

Im currently ranking for one of my keywords as a category instead of a single posts. I don't mind that at all, but I was wondering, are there any downsides to it? I don't see it that often when I'm searching Google myself...

Cheers!

  • Why there would be downsides? In my opinion this shouldn't be problem.
If you have only category that's ranking, for a certain keyword, I don't see why it's not even better then having one, single post for that keyword/s!

You don't see your posts searched so much? Maybe posts are not searched much, but category is, doesn't matter, that's the way it is in my opinion.

  • Maybe FingerPicker means he's ranking a category page, say on a wordpress site? That means a visitor has to click once more to get to the article or to the subject he/she is actually searching for. In that scenario you could lose sales.

    • Yeah that's what I meant indeed. Well, the keyword I'm talking about doesn't matter because it's used to drag people into my website instead of selling a product.

Is there a way to change this?

Piggyback off the first ranked page authority & rank a 2nd internal page for the exact same keyword.
  • How can you have variety in your posts?
