Increasing CTR on website

I current own and run a fairly new website with my partner. In the first month we were able to receive about 250,000 pageviews and 100,000 unique visitors. Sounds great I know, except we were only able to get about $65 through adsense.

We got about a 0.12% CTR which I thought was terrible. We also were selling t-shirts but haven' sold any yet.

My question is, what ways have you used to increase CTR or increase revenue on your website.

Background of my website. I receive most of my traffic through twitter. We own a very popular twitter account which brings the viewers to our website. The viewers are mainly kids, teens, and young adults. The website was originally created as an extension to the twitter account, which posts funny pictures, quotes, and jokes. The website posts funny memes, pictures, videos, tweets and vines daily.

If anyone is interested in helping or think they can help I can share the website with you. May be interested in looking to higher someone for a portion of revenue or per project basis.

I think that the problem may be that you are building a page aimed towards a target audience that is not a buying audience. It will be interesting to know what your bounce rate is?

Without seeing the page it is hard to tell...

The bounce rate is 75%, it was about 50% before.

You are right about the audience not being a buying audience but we had to gear it towards them since it is mainly who follows us, that is why we were hoping to make the bulk of our money from ad revenue and no product sales.

Any idea on how to make more money off ads or another source? We currently are only using Google Adsense which seems to be doing nothing.

Make a free mobile app. for your site, run ads on the app. & promote the free download on your site & Google Play.

I can help if you PM me your site URL.

So far it looks like adsense is generating you a 26 cent CPM/RPM. Check your analytics on the top geos coming in from Twitter. If 50%+ is from the US there are much better ways to monetize from other ad networks by running a mix of CPM ads along with adsense on a few ATF placements.

So I checked out the stats, 86% are using a mobile device to view the website which isn't shocking. Also 83% of the traffic is from the US. The next biggest is from Canada with 11%.

We were thinking about creating a mobile app for the website as our viewers have even asked for one before but don't want to make a huge investment on an app since we are seeing next to none in returns.

What kind of app would you guys suggest? Maybe point me to a few websites with good apps and also were would you suggest I have my app created and for how much should we be pay?

Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it.
