longstanding wordpress blog with many articles approach question

hi- I have a new client who we made a 1 page site for a while back, now starting some seo for them.
They have an existing standalone wp blog with 100 + quality articles going back for years, well indexed by google.

My question is how to best use these already indexed articles- right now they don't have anchor text etc- just link to main domain on a naked url.

Should we take these articles, delete them from archive and add good anchor, then post them in various good places online?

Or should we leave them in place and change the anchor on the wp blog, then spin the articles and place them elsewhere?

odd situation i know..

thanks!

You said the blog articles are good quality & indexed so why would you want to delete them or post them on an external site? If you do that your starting over like the old URLs/pages never existed. Keep the old pages, sort them by highest PR & build a few links to your money page/site.

If the old page titles/content need tweaked a little to make them relevant, then do that but don't delete the old pages/URLs. On the old blog pages with no PR, use them to point internal keyword anchor-text links back to the higher PR internal pages on the old blog, to help boost keyword relevancy.

Example link flow on old blog:

hi yukon and thanks for the reply-
my thinking was to use the content as unique- so all ~100 posts are on westhighlandsauto | Just another WordPress.com site and all link to the money site, usually naked url.

my thinking was, yes, the older posts don't really have any pr most like- though they do all come from wordpress of course.
so why not get rid of the old post, and republish it on external sites with high pr and inserted anchor text- thus its unique high pr content and fresh effectively- and deleting the archive post ensures its unique

Does this make sense from an seo perspective?

Those are more like local sales pages than articles.

No real authority going on there considering the blog is at least 3 years old, not even a single PR0 (all PRn/a).

Not sure that either option is good.

I definitely wouldn't spin good articles. The quality will suffer.

I'm not sure what quality articles you're talking about here, and I'm not in the mood to dig any further than the front page. Thin sales pages, all linking to the money site. If you're looking for link juice it probably doesn't matter wether you delete the pages or the whole site. It's got 0/0 in Majestic SEO (not 100% reliable). Maybe you can find the pages in SERPs for some obscure keyword.

For backlinks this exercise doesn't help your money site, which has the Majestic SEO Trust Flow score of 0 too.

If you're trying to get backlinks to that site, I'd get a domain first. If you ever get any PR you're in control of the site, not WordPress.com.

Well nettiapiana- there is a domain which is www.westhighlandsauto.com

OK- looking further the posts are more salesy than great articles.
However the competition in this niche is barely existent, and at least we have a lot of text blocs to start from.

Thanks to all for your replies on this, its given me some ideas on how to proceed.

Yes, got that. Referred to it as "money site".

BTW, if you want to check your own site on Majestic SEO, you can for free. Some other back link checkers allow that too.
