The campaign is on the display ad network and is for a kitchen cabinet business. the webpage has a has a phone number and request a free estimate form.

Here are the stats

clicks-impr---CTR----avg CPC--Cost----avg pos
66----884---7.47%---$0.06---$3.78-----1

66 clicks and ZERO calls or emails. how big of a sample do I need before I start making adjustements? I was thinking i would pause it at 100 clicks.

Clicks from display ad network doesn't convert well. If you really want to give it a try, wait it reaches 200 clicks.

I agree with dejaone. Some marketers even say 500-1000 clicks.
      Good luck!

        Hi sbishop,

Your haven't gathered enough data to make any decisions yet. After only 100 clicks you will have enough for a "hint", but nothing you could rely upon. You may need about 1000 clicks before you have enough data to make a reliable choice. Generally speaking, the Display Network will have relatively low conversion rates as compared to Search, and even so it will vary a great deal depending on your targeting methods.

In most cases it is a good idea to send highly targeted traffic, the type that you get from the Search Network using carefully chosen keywords, and use that traffic to establish a baseline conversion rate for your landing pages.

You might even want to go through a few cycles of testing and optimizing your landing page content using highly targeted Search Traffic, before you even attempt to benchmark Display Network traffic. One of the most common mistakes I see people make in advertising is that they don't even bother to test and optimize their landing pages. That can cost you a lot of money in the long run.

That is what I wanted to know, how many clicks before i make changes to the landing page. I did not want to burn through a bunch of money if the landing page needs work, and I did not want to keep changing the landing page without giving it a chance.

This is the problem, you have such a small budget and you were expecting already to get sales, if you have a very good converting landing page (lets say 10% conversion visitor to leads) you would have to have 100 visitors to your landing page to get 10 leads, even the best of the leads usually converts every 25 to 20 leads meaning that even if you have all the optimal conditions you would need a budget twice the size you have it to generate a single lead that becomes a sale.

I was hoping to use the $80 credit to learn. If I could get a lead(not click through) before I ran out of credit, it would give me the confidence to invest more money. I know that ppc can be very expensive if done wrong.

The leads that I'm looking for are for kitchen remodel, cabinet refacing, granite counter tops, etc. I have spoken with Homeadvisor.com and they charge $50 per month, plus $16-$28 a lead.(of course they sell it to multiple people)

I was trying to match or beat their cost so it would make since to invest into ppc.

I track exactly what actions visitors take on the landing page, and adjust landing page in just about 10 clicks to see better results.

the whole thing was a waste. I was just checking the campaign settings and realized that none of the clicks were local. I added geo targeting, but did not remove the general "USA" target. and they were all from that group. I just removed it and get to try again.
