Article Marketing + SEO Warning : Please Don't Do This

Dear Warriors,

I just want to share what I've done last week with articles submitted to EzineArticles for SEO purpose.

Here's my story :

After researching for micro niche keyword, finally I decided to choose a keyword related with technology which has 14,000+ search per month (based on Keyword Tool External data) and less than 1,000 for exact terms listed on Google.com

So, I wrote an article 360 words, titled with keyword I choose.

And... right after my article approved by EzineArticles, my article listed on the first page of Google search result with that keyword.

Even though I'm not in the 1st place, but I'm still excited because there are more than 24,000,000 websites listed there.

Almost every 4-6 hours I keep my eyes on Google. just to make sure how long this method will survive. But... I think I made a mistake. (Maybe...)

Every time I check on Google I also clicked my link. I didn't click any other sites. But directly click my own link. You might say that 'why I'm doing it?'

Well, I was like 8 years old boy with new lollipop in my hand. I was so excited! no reason why I click my link so often...

And finally, yesterday Google kick my site out of his yard forever.... :-(

Even though, I search using 'keyword' site:ezinearticles.com I still can't find it. So, this is a great lesson for me and hopefully it won't happen to you.

Now, I have 5 articles with different keywords and I'm ready to play again with same method, but different attitude ;-)

Wish me luck...!

    Hey robson,

don't worry... it had nothing to do with clicking your link. This is normal G activity and your article will come back. Hard to say if it will keep that ranking, but it'll come back.

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!

The Clicking on your link rule I guess applies only to adsense, not on the google search results.

The explanation is pretty simple. EzineArticles will post a link to your article on its high PR homepage for at least a few hours on the day it is approved. Google undoubtedly spiders that page many times each day, so it quickly picked up your article and gave it major link love from the PR6 EzineArticles homepage link. Once your new article fell off the EZA homepage a few hours later, Google noticed that and dropped your link juice considerably. If that was the only link you had to the article page, you went from a great link to no links.

Solution: spend an hour or two and get some good links to your article page using the keyword you targeted as anchor text. As long as the links are on sites with good PR, Google will love you again.

This is a pretty good explanation. There are probably a few other factors too, but as mentioned, it will come back... if the article was unique and not a direct copy which I doubt it was otherwise EZA wouldn't have approved it.

I'd get a few links pointing to it as mentioned above anf then FORGET about it. Rather than keep checking it all day long, get more articles out there, get some backlinks, create new blogs, sites etc etc. You get the picture?!

That is exactly what happened, perfect explanation John.

Just do a few backlinks to it and it will be back in page 1.

This is quite common and happens all the time. Some called it the "google dance". All you need to do is to do some linking to your ezine article, using social bookmarking, squidoo etc and your article should come back very soon.

well, it comes back or not it doesn't really matter, what matter is getting traffic to your
site.. so use other methods to get traffic to your site as well. Don't rely on just one method, otherwise if something bad happens your site traffic will drop fast...

I guess the issue has been exhaustively explained - a couple of extra clicks don't matter that much, and if you want to see a page rank on a continuous basis, you have to build links. That's it.

Don't stress it, it is completely normal. If you really want to see that article back on the top of the SERPS then give a little link love. With that said, if I were you I would focus on targeting that keyword with new articles so that you can hopefully dominate the SERPS with your content.

How could Google possibly know that you're clicking on your own link? It doesn't make any sense.

Instead of clicking my links I often find my self tweeting others into doing it for me. Who is Google?

I just got back from the future and I never heard of Google Jk. Never sweat the dance just change the music , build other sources of traffic and the big G will show you more love.
