Hi warrior forum members, I have just singed up here. I am learning internet marketing and trying to understand SEO.
I have a confusion regarding ranking a keyword. If this question sound you stupid then please forgive me.

Q. So everyone when make a website or create article/post on his website his next aim to rank keyword for their article/post. I want to know that how do they really do. What i assume that they would create backlinks for their article using that article main keyword as an Anchor Text pointing back to their article/post. So Google get to know for what keyword you want to rank your article/post.
AM I RIGHT ?

For example take a Title "How to ride a bike" So here what i consider is the main keyword should be "ride a bike" but how Google get to know that your keyword is "ride a bike". Do i need to create backlinks using my keyword as an Anchor Text pointing back to my article/post?

I asked a question to Brian Dean that While building backlinks should i use naked url or Anchor Text?
Brian answered "Defiantly use naked url"

Brian answer confuse me a little bit because i was applying above theory to rank a keyword by building backlinks using Anchor Text as keyword.
I also asked Brian my above question but he did not response to it.
Edited : Gotta Brian answer today saying that "Anchor text doesn’t work like that anymore" Well he is pro in his field, So i am gonna believe his words

Hope my question make sense.
Please answer me how do people tell Google that what is their keyword and they want rank it?

And sorry for my English.

You need to have keywords on your meta tags, H1 and on your articles. If you write a detailed article and then share it with others i.e Facebook, twitter, blog directories and High PR forums you create back links going back to your articles. The more authority your articles has , like if people are sharing it and it goes viral.Google will give you some kind of priority on the SERPS and you may start appearing on the first page. Don't worry about the words you use on the anchor text. You should focus on which websites are giving you the link back and the content of your article. Do some research for your keywords too, don't go for keywords that have massive competition you will not make it on the search results easily.
I hope you get the drift

Thanks for tips......So Anchor Text does not make really much difference ranking in your keyword.........one more thing i think meta tags have zero impact on your ranking as Google officially stated that Google search bot ignore meta tags? Am i right?

SEO is categorized into two parts.

The on and off site SEO.

The on site SEO involves adding your keywords in your web page content and also keyword tag which help to optimize the page or post for your target keyword.

The off site SEO is about building backlinks and it pays to use your keyword as anchor because Google will eventually count the quality of links and anchor term you are trying to rank for before finally settling you in a position on the serp.

It's good to use naked link but having your anchor is a must except if you naturally rank for it that way.

Just to clarify, Google ignores your keyword tag, but not your meta title. Your meta title is actually going to be one of your most powerful SEO resources.

If you are living in 1996, there was a meta title.

The title tag that people use today, is not a meta tag.

      It's a title tag.

So many people mix this up because the have no knowledge of basic html,
let alone any website building skills.

Anyone who says meta title...well....I guess I'll be more polite today, cuz
anyone that doesn't know that meta title does not exist...well...

And you keep repeating meta title meta title...as if it means something.

      It's meaningless.

Google could give a rip about FB, twitter, and other social links like that which are
either nofollow, or not seen. They give zero authority.

It all adds up people. Do you really want to make money or not?

I have no idea where you people get your info from.
