Which site will rank better?

Sorry to start the question same way again,but...

Lets take for identical websites from seo pesrspective and
website no. 1 has 5 links coming from 5 pages on 5 different domains (1 page per domain) - page rank 5

website no.2 has 50 links coming from 50 pages all on same domain - page rank 5.

In both cases all links are to home page.

Wich site will rank better?

  • In my experience additional links coming from the same domain have a diminishing level of power on the target site. Based on the tests I have run on many different sites I would have to say website 1… Of course I'm sure there are examples out there where the opposite is true so I'm just sharing my experience.
  • Depends on the links. The one that will rank higher has the highest pr links and most content.

    Dont forget, content is still king no matter how many backlinks
  • Are those 50 links coming from blog comments? what's the number of OBL in those pages? It still counts as 50 backlinks but the value would degrade the more you have it.

      This is a teoretical question so those links are coming from pages with same number of OBL in all pages in both cases.
  • Considering all other things equal, website no 1 will do better.

  • There is no doubt about it, links coming from five different pages with good page rank will do better.

    I'll take the 50 PR5 links from one relevant domain over the 5 PR5 links on 5 domains.

    • Is he saying that all 50 pages are PR 5s on that domain? I assumed he only meant the home page.
  • relevancy plays a good part in ranking,
    so without a doubt website no. 2 is in a strong position and can enjoy quick improvment in ranking.
