Is AdSense better in sidebar or inside each page?

Relaunched hxxp://www.danscartoons.com . Advertisement on upper left appears throughout the site but even with 10,000 pages it's only earning a couple of cents to a couple dollars a day. Is the ad code better INSIDE each page? I.e., that ad appears as a widget and widget is stationary throughout the entire site. My stats according to Google Webmaster Tools also show the site URLs that have been indexed are now going in reverse....why that is, I don't know. Not by many pages but it has me wondering.

  • you can place them into sidebar or below every post, Sidebar would be gud.

    • As you can see at top left, they are already in the sidebar....and still not earning too much per day (with about 10,000 pages)

  • Put a 336x280 advertisement below the logo in your mobile site. Also insert a 336x280 ad in the middle of content by using the wp-insert plugin (If you use WP)

This has paid off extremely well for my site.
  • Hi NetJunkie:
I appreciate your input. I haven't really got too many plugins going....maybe 3 right now (believe it or not). I forced myself to avoid using plugins so I could learn a more "direct approach" to how WordPress works. I believe I have JetPack, Yoast and one more plugin that is actively working on this site. I had some great help with building the site but at the same time, it was in conjunction with "guidance", how to make a page as opposed to a post and then the difference in using "categories" and then tagging images throughout my site in conjunction with putting each of those different images on it's own category page and tagging each image - thus making for a more robust site.I could have just as easily divided up all 4000 images into 50 different galleries and put a gallery on each page making it a site with say for instance, maybe 100 pages. I wanted to make it a bit more diverse than that plus have a keyword search engine that brings up separate category pages not to mention a tag cloud that pertains to specific images within the site. I appreciated your input and I am looking at this all very closely....and so am I to assume that the ad block we add in the upper left of a page isn't actually the "all enticing" type of attraction to clicks? Remember when everyone was saying add a large rectangle (336X280) to upper left of all your pages....that is the best. Thanks again for the input!
  • I can tell you that, use your ads on your sidebar is good. And you can use your ads on the middle of every post. That would be helpful for you.
  • If you find difficulties of placing an ad code middle of the post or else where, install Quick Sense or Quick AdSense (forgot the true title), as it would gives a great help if you're using WP.
  • How well targeted are your Adsense ads for your site? I saw ads on 'Master in Visual Media Communication'. Do your average site visitors need that sort of thing? Just wondering if maybe the ads are not targeted enough to the site content.

    • I am assumming that deleting the "Useful Links" above adsense
was not a priority. It should be.

And now you are jumping the shark.

Those ad colors to blend end with the rest of the graphics, are another
big violation. Users cannot distinguish between ads and graphics.

What on earth would prompt you to use those awful colors? Google's
default is the best, by far.

Come on people. The WF helps those who help themselves.

  • Paul: If I could find out how to "delete" that yellow bar with the text "Useful Links", I would. The theme was not developed by me though....it was customized via the 2012 theme so I need to figure out where I go to delete that and my developer has not been in touch. I would rather figure that out on my own. However, my other alternative is actually deleting that whole ad by taking the widget it sits in, and just removing it. Then just below that very top banner (the red one with my domain name) add the 728X90 and see what happens....what do you think of that? I just need to verify how to do that, I believe it can be achieved by going into my header.php and adding that adsense code just before a </group> code but not sure this forum allows screenshots to show my intention....may I put a screenshot here? SamAdams just mentioned targeting ads....so if I add that intended 728X90, I believe I need to target that ad code as I set it up, correct? I move a little slower than Paul G I think, but I promise to do what I say I will....I just need to take measured steps so as not to hurt my site or mess it up. Thanks for being patient....and understanding....
  • If you want something done with your theme, I'd help. And, of course, it's absolutely free without any condition.

    • Here's where it's located in the source code. You should be able to remove it or change the wording in the editor. It is a violation of Google Adsense policies, and it will get you banned.
