Article #1 spot in Google? When should I expect sales?

Ok, I have worked pretty hard to get this article to the 1st position of Google and it is there in only 4 days. Now the thing is, my article is promoting a Clickbank product. Now this is the first day being in the #1 position. How long should I wait to see if this could make me any sells before moving on to maybe adsense instead of an article. Now this keyword phrase gets around 550 searches daily.

My advice would be this: Don't count the days but count the unique hits to your product's sales page. If after 4000 uniques you still ain't got one sale, move on to another product.

Just because you have an article sitting in the #1 google spot doesn't mean you are going to immediately start selling like crazy. You have to be patient and consider the many other variables included in a sale. Can you provide the link of the article so we can take a look?

I would NOT do that ... someone will look to jockey up on it first chance they get ... just my op.

  • If only it was that easy.

What is the conversion ratio? Can you figure that out in a day?

Search>Your Site or Not > If your site then click or not > If click then read pitch or not > If read then decide to buy or not > If decide to buy will cookie get dropped or not > THERE YA GO!

this would depend on how you cloaked the link for instance if i was to do this I would still send them to my home page or blog post which would have a site redirect for the link. Take this link forinsance it is a clickbank product redirect I did from my site The Ultimate Search Engine Loophole... This allows me to disquise the link so they are unaware they are going to an affiliated link to buy something

I got a domain name with the main keyword in it and redirected it to the affiliate product. I also added tracking to the link so I can keep up with hops vs. sales if any.

It does not matter what we think. Test and see. Personally, I would offer a related freebie and get them on your list. That way you can write a 10 part series that warms up your prospects and gets them to buy the product. This is just my opinion and you should try it and see.

    One article is not enough.

There are too many variables to calculate when or if you'll make a sale from this one article.

Congratulations on the #1 position, but don't just sit there watching and waiting - get to writing more articles. When you have 5 to 7 articles on this one topic, all ranking on the first page of Google for long tail (or any good keywords), then you can gauge better whether or not this product will produce profits for you.

You are also redirecting directly to the sales page. I have found that it's best to create a review page to "presell" the prospect first. When they click on the product page, they are more likely to be interested in the product because you've given them a reason to investigate further.

Thanks. I thought the article itself was the presell.

your article is a presell but inorder to get any returns even with an article sitting at the number one spot. If you can not get them to move on to your link it does absolutly no good at all. Basic sales you want them wanting more or thinking they can not go with out the product. This is how you make a sell in real life and it is no different then selling online.

I used this tactic on a guy when I worked in a pet store. He came in looking for a fish bowl and a fish for his kid. Less then 20mins of talking to the guy he left with over 150$ worth of aquarium and fish. I found out an hour later from the cashier that as the guy was paying for everything he was telling her that all he wanted was a 10$ fishbowl and a goldfish. He then said thats one hell of a salesmen you guys have back there. She asked who and if you can get them to remember my full name you know I did my job even though i didnt get any commisions on that sale I made.

Another time we had just got in some anphibians my boss really did not want in the store. So I told him i would have them out before I go home today even if I have to buy them my self. To make a long story short after me and him talked they where gone less then 2 hours later. Now if I could just apply my direct sales to online sales I wold be philthy stinking rich only doing this for less then 6 months making an average of 2-300 a month to start. 1/4 of that is coming from one program alone and thats pyrabang. That 5.95 invest is making me on average alone 80+$ a month. Not too bad for a noob if I do say so my self.

you can get it from adwords it does not show you daily searches but monthly searches. All you do is times it by 12 months then divide that number by 365 and you have your average daily searches. Giving or taking a few hundred of course since adwords only has an estimated search volume

Actually, the search volumes reported by the Google Adwords KW Tool are significantly inflated for Google-only search. The tool wasn't designed for that purpose, it was designed for Adwords users. That's why I wanted to know where the 550 number came from.

Use your formula, then divide it by about 4 or 5 to get the REAL number of Google organic searches.

Actually it came from the keyword tool from SEObook.com

I didn't base it off the Google adwords too but I did use it to help with keyword research.

Whats even funnier about when I left that store for another job. All of my regular customers left as well. One imparticular spent over 300 every time he came in and would not buy anything unless I was there. He was in there something like 3 times a week.

How many hits a day is your article getting? Is the article published at EZA? If it is, you should be able to see the views down at the bottom of the page...

See how many hits you got on your product. Its the thing to be taken care of if you do not get much hits than time to leave the product and get another one. As your article was for 4 days in Google top list you need not be so worry, you need to concentrate on the hits your product is getting.
