hi warriors,

I have a concern, my website has been dancing badly since end of January, went from first page down to almost disappeared. I got so concerned as i thought site maybe penalized.

However, i didn't see any messages for the site on Google Webmaster which is a good sign.

The website Kept jumping up and down, couple of days ago, it was almost back but here we go again and the ranking jumping down.

My concern is how high the jump up and down. The website is not moving few spots, it can move over a single keyword 200 or 300 spot at a time.

Is this normal ? did Google do something different with there Algorithm ?

At least you see your website some times, some of my websites just go out of Google and I never see them, even though I regularly update them with fresh content.
    All the best. Regards.

      This is normal.

I'd say it happens to about 25% of my sites, and for a number of different reasons:

      1) Once you get to page 1, do you have the appropriate social signals to justify the backlinks youre getting.
      2) Did you trigger the random documents algorithm? Prematurely, changing anchor text, removing backlinks, etc can trigger this algorithm.
      3) Check your on-page SEO. On page scans don't happen daily. It could be that youre overoptimized and for the first x-months Google just happened to not scan your page. Then they did and hence the dance.

      How to recover:

Don't stop building backlinks. Keep them at the same pace as before you started dancing.

Look back to how things were before you started dancing. If you made any significant changes, start removing one of them per week until you get back to the state that things were before the dance.

Typically you can get back to normal within 1-1.5 months and you're likely to come back with a better ranking than before.

Yes, google dance is normal. My website is dancing on one keyword. Earlier it was on 375 position in Google.com but last week came on second page and now again disappear.
