The Not provided keywords, there are many issues related to this, some are as follows:

    1. Whether you directly reach to that site.
    2. You reached the site just by surfing over the net, with the use of keyword, that is not at all using as targeting keyword for that site.
    3. Many user find you with that keyword, but may be that link is robots.txt, which does not allow Google to crawl that link.
    4. Sometimes, even when we logged on any email services and looking for the things, it is technically got attached to a ticket, which does not belong to our site.

These are some of the reasons for "Not Provided Keywords".

Google used to pass all the keyword to you and your analytic programs could pick them up, but this is not the case anymore.

I use adwords for keyword research these days.

I am afraid the only way is to look into Search Terms inside Webmaster Tools.

        Good luck.

Connect your webmaster tools with analytics, and you should be able to use this page to see queries. It will show you how many people clicked from searching it in google. Not as good as it was but next best thing

I did a post on this a long time ago. Too lazy to dig it up.

First of all, not sure how much value one could give to any searches like that.
Too many intangibles in what is probably mostly personalized searches. Each
    person is different.

If you just have to know, you can use logic and a little digging to decipher
what pages they are landing on. What page it is, gives you a clue. Way too
many ways of doing that here in a post.

Lastly, I always say it's probably the same make up as the others.
If 50% come from one term/phrase, then chances are 50% of the unknowns
    also are coming from that.

If you have a good handle on what pages those unknowns are going to,
then you have a pretty good idea as to what they are searching for.

I would never fret over such a thing. It's not a big problem at all.

I use the STT2 Wordpress plugin (free) for tracking incoming search phrases & traffic volume on the Wordpress Admin., I don't use the plugin on the live web pages. I turn Off all the options that try & display keywords on the live web pages.

You can't get all the incoming search phrases from Google, still you can get some of the phrases & the plugin keeps track of how many hits per keyword.

Like I said above, I don't let that plugin post keywords on my live web pages. I only use it for helping me keep track of the incoming keywords my traffic is searching on Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.... My advice is to turn off all those settings where the plugin tries to post keyword anchor-text on live webpages.

There's some old threads here on the SEO forum where I've talked about that plugin. Warrior forum search is broken so you would have to use Google to find those old forum threads If you wanted to read them. I guess the old threads still exist.

I have the plugin setup to collect 2,500 incoming search phrases, the plugin automatically sorts the search phrases by highest incoming traffic. Every so often I'll load about 20 of my latest keywords into Rank Checker (free firefox plugin) & find out where my pages are ranked for these specific keywords. Example, If I was getting some traffic for a keyword that shows on the STT2 WP plugin (my WP Admin. page) & my page was at the bottom of the first page on Google SERPs, then I would do some SEO to bump my page up to the top of the SERPs to increase traffic flow per new longtail keyword. Repeat...

Again, the plugin isn't perfect but it does collect a lot of incoming search phrases so it's helpful.

I am giving it a try to see how it works. There are almost 1300 not provided keywords in my GA from 2000 traffic. So its really a disgusting situation for me.
