Hi there!

When I started using Adsense for my difrerent niche sites, I didn't have any clue what is the best position for Adsense ads to put on the site.

And than I found many images showing it. After much trial and error, I sticked with this spots. They are really the best for any site you run...

I hope it will help you too!

I think the top banner is not really good for CTR...

Top/center always worked good for me.

Also placing the ad next to a call to action, like next to a popup form for an email optin or a download link which is what I did. Basically any call to action where traffic doesn't leave the page that includes an ad.

Does right position work well? I might try it out in that position.

Upper left hand corner of your article position is recommended by Google for Adsense placement. However, I'm not keen on clicking ads right after I've started reading an article. And, by the time I get to the end of the article, I won't scroll back up just to see some ads. So, maybe putting the ads inside the content such as a box in the middle/end would be another good place as a way to cash in on your reader's desire to take action after reading.

Do you know any plugins for Wordpress that can create a floating widget?
My theme does not support 2 sidebars, just left or right...

There is no 'one size fits all' solution for advertisement positioning.

You have to run tests on each website to see what works best - the main things to test are:
    • Position
    • Ad sizes
    • Colors

I have some sites where ads at the bottom of the pages do best, and in others it's the ones at the top or in the middle.

Although I've been involved in online advertising for nearly 20 years, I'm still often surprised by the counter-intuitive results discovered by testing.

If you really want to monetize a page, you might as well go all out and put up the maximum number of link units (such as in your menu column) and banner ads as allowable. And, before you say that looks spammy, think of how many name brand sites, including the TV networks online that spam up their pages with sponsored ads (not necessarily Adsense but paid endorsement ads). Just do what feels right for your site. And, if your site can handle more ads in various locations, then place them. If the site will only stand one simple link unit, then go with that. This will vary based on your site content, not some arbitrary measure used by the masses.
