Changed the <h1> headings but haven't seen an effect on my serps, it's been over a month.

Did i do it correctly?

Keywords on each page, and their positions in serps:

pc maintenance london---------was position:50----is now position:14
##http://www.pcmaintenancelondon.co.uk/##

pc repairs london----------------was:not visible----is now:still not visible
##http://www.pcmaintenancelondon.co.uk/##

computer repairs london--------was:not visible----is now:still not visible
##http://www.pcmaintenancelondon.co.uk...airs-london/##

laptop repairs london------------was:not visible----is now:still not visible
##http://www.pcmaintenancelondon.co.uk...airs-london/##

Why is only "pc maintenance london" showing up on serps and other keywords aren't? Are my <h1> tags correct on all these pages?
#<h1> #correctly #tags
  • perhaps you haven't been treating your other keywords with the same attention your giving to pc maintenance london?

what are you doing for your off page seo efforts?

The same attention, yes, i haven't done anything outside the website whatsoever. All i've done is only on the website. Placing keywords, improving content, <h1> tags, making the website faster, and improving loading times.

Are my <h1> tags alright? Not sure if i did them correctly

All those dashes and hashes are bothering my eyes, so I'll just tell you what you need to know instead of answering your question directly .. teach a man to fish, after all

If your keyword, or synonyms/derivatives of it are somewhere in your H1 tag, you're doing just fine. Don't neglect your meta description, as well. Keep in mind the total picture: you're going to want to ensure that your website Title, H1, meta desc and the anchor texts in your backlinks are not over-optimized as a total.

And as it was stated earlier, an optimized H1 tag is rarely enough on its own to rank you -- unless you're trying to rank for a really obscure keyword that nobody else wants to rank for.

Your over optimized. Plain as day to me. Check keyword density for all of the words on your pages, especially "repair london"...should be under 1.5% and "london" should be under 2%.

You've got several h1's on the same page, and one of them is hidden with display: none. Both of these are issues that you should correct.

I've seen this site before. There's still the two huge blurry photos in the slider. Get rid of one, and "save for web" from Photoshop or whatever program you're using.

      Hi k0103707,

As nettiapina pointed out your text based h1 has an inline style attribute set to display:none, that isn't going to help you one bit.

Actually the tag you use isn't all that important for ranking in Google. Google looks at the text as rendered and weights the importance of keywords based on the post rendered layout. If you want to increase the importance of a keyword on your page then forget about the tag and focus on making that keyword more prominent within the content as it is displayed to users.

The most obvious improvement is to include an actual headline that looks like a headline to users, I noticed your pages are missing headlines which hurt your rankings in more than one way.

you have to open and close the title with <H1> .. but if you want a fast effect to your website, so build backlinks by using achor text .. that's the most powerful SEO trick

Absolutely. The first one is a textbook example of stuffing. It just makes it worse if you've hidden that string from your visitors and try to pass it to Google.

Isn't it ok though since it is a picture thats got the <h1> and it is showing on the page?

There's two pictures on the slider? really, where?

The picture part is the only thing that's ok.

Having two h1s might not work too well. "Display: none" is not ok. Spammy word stuffing is worse. And you get fourth big "not ok" by combining these three.

The first slide loads the image from inducohosting.com. Perhaps the same image technically speaking, but loading it from there means that the browser has to fetch it separately.

Made the <h1> changes. But the logo looks f*** up now... There's only one <h1> now. I tried to change the size of the font and size of logo but for some reason it's not working. Thought of changing the color of the words to white so users don't actually see it, so it doesn't disturb the appearance. For some reason wordpress its not allowing me to change the color and size.

Also altered the inducohosting.com banner external link to internal and the site is loading even faster. Cheers!

Edit: found a way around the <h1> problem, all "A" ok! Cheers guys!

So you're hell-bent on hiding the h1? That's a bad idea no matter which trick you're trying to use. Why not just add that as a normal text in front of the first paragraph, like everyone else does.
