Submitting articles to Reddit?

Hi, I wanted to submit some of my fitness articles to Reddit to create some exposure for my website but I don't think I was going about it the right way.

On the homepage I selected Submit Post and selected sub-reddit (fitness) .. but that's just a forum like the part of digital point that I am posting on here, so an article wouldn't fit it?

So where on Reddit should I be submitting to? Thanks.

I use reddit frequently and redditors hate advertising. The site itself doesn't advertise to third-party companies, it's funded by reddit gold.

    Are you selling anything?

It would be a pretty bad idea to try and gain exposure on reddit if you're selling something-you probably are since you're an internet marketer.

You're right they do (understandably) but I was looking to engage and contribute content not just advertise.

I found out how anyway, the mods are very helpful!

Anyone know of other places to submit fitness articles that aren't hated by Google and get decent traffic?

Some of my articles got hundreds of visits from reddit. A site could get about 50 hits from stumbleupon if there're 5-10 votes.

Reddit has self-promoted posts as a form of advertising

My advice would be to laser target your ads to specific subreddits potentially interested in your product and make your ad creative.

I have explained before how to use reddit to advertise with Search Engine benefits as well as traffic benefits, click on the signature, nothing to buy.

  • Never had success marketing to reddit. From my experience they really hate marketers and unless you can be sneaky and not come off as one then you are introuble lol

    Hi,

I think Reddit is a bookmarking website so you can't actually submit articles. I think what you can do is submit a URL of a website where the article is posted. So if it is posted on your website or an actual article directory then you can head over to Reddit and submit the URL of the website.

I remember using Reddit a few times and I don't recall being able to submit any article but on URL's.

    Thanks,

I usually submit some of my articles and videos to the /Bodybuilding sub-reddit and some of them were quite appreciated. But there are 2 main issues:

      1. Your content must be of super high quality! People that participate on that category are usually advanced trainees, so you can't present them some basic, re-hashed information. You need to offer them scientific evidence for every statement in your article, otherwise they will just make fun of you and your work.

      2. Even though you might get like 1,000 visitors to your website in a matter of minutes, they will go as fast as they came! People on Reddit tend to move very fast from one post to the other, so you won't get much out of them.

From the thousands of visitors I got from Reddit, I didn't get any new subscribers, any ad clicks or any Social Media followers. The only thing that helped were the views on Youtube videos.
