Website jumping around in rankings

My website is relatively new (late February), and I just started building links since mid March. Is it normal for it to jump positions? Also, the website is in French, and ends in .fr, but is nowhere to be seen on google.fr. It is however, ranked in google.com

Is this normal, and will it eventually be on google.fr? Thanks.

  • Yes it is. Search engine is figuring out a position to put you in. It will start to settle down soon and you can see where your true rankings are.

Thanks. But is it also normal to rank on google.com before google.fr when the domain is French and so is the site?

It's located in Canada. I don't see how that can affect it though.

IP location is one of the factors Google checks. Usually they're pretty good with the actual language of the site and server location doesn't have much effect, though.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

            What's your excuse?

I think "New" could be difficult to rank, You can start from on page optimization

Does anyone know how long before it stabilizes in rank?

  • As you continue to build backlinks (you should focus on getting dofollow links on high PR pages) and your site ages, your rankings will eventually begin to stabilize. It could take anywhere from 6 months to a year.
