What to do Adwords?

I have a keyword I was using in Google to generate a ton of sales for a product as was promoting as an affiliate.

I moved it to it's own adgroup and optimzed my page for the particular keyword, I checked the density and it's around 3%.

Once I moved the keyword to it's own adgroup the cost of it went from .10 to .50. I cannot figure out how to bring the keyword back down to under .10.

Any suggestions?????

Second, the keyword is very profitable so I started up a Yahoo Account and tried bidding
on the same keyword at a reasonable bidding price. Their expectations say I should receive 3 clicks per month for that keyword. Ughh not enough.

  • Moving a keyword to a new ad group causes it to loose it history.

    The length of time it held its rank and the clickthrough rate
    can effect the minimum bid.

    There is no easy way to get the bid back down.

    I would check your quality score for the keyword. If it is not rated great
    then there is room for improvement on your landing page.

    Can you describe what your landing page looks like? Are there links to contact us, or about us? Are there links to other pages on your site?
    Do you force email optin to get information? There are a lot of one page
    factors on your landing page besided density that can effect your quality score.

      While moving a keyword to a new adgroup will cause you to lose your adgroup history, You will still retain your keyword history as this is maintained at the account level.

      As John stated you should definitely look at your Quality Score. I am willing to bet that your increase in min. bid is a result of your ad text or landing page and has absolutely nothing to do with your keyword history.

      You can easily verify this by using the exact same ad text and point it at the same old landing page. If your min. bid drops to previous levels that proves your keyword history is intact in your new adgroup.

      When you look at your Quality Score you will see an option to see "Details and recommendations". When you click this option it will bring up a Keyword Analysis page that will indicate whether it's your keyword, ad text or landing page that is negatively affecting your quality score.

      Once you have this information, come back here and post what you found and we will attempt to help you resolve the specific issue causing your high min. bid.
