We have 2 sites, both are over 5 years old, various quality links, poor quality links disavowed and just want to know what you would suggest to build quality links now to the site.

Would these be: web 2.0, unique articles on article directories or YOUR blog, we have a blog on the domain. Or what?

Come on guys, inspire us with your expertise and knowledge.

Thanks

Dex

    Hey Dex,

Different people have different strategies of course, but what works for me and everyone that I consult with is a mix of the following:

    1) High PR/PA/DA relevant backlinks (contextual, homepage): This is where your main ranking power is going to come from.
    2) Web 2.0 (juiced up with backlinks, high PA 30+): These are for your Brand, URL, misc anchors to give you a nice rounded anchor text distribution
    3) Social bookmarks: Not going to help you rank but acts as a social signal and helps to even out the anchor text as well
    4) Social shares: For keeping rank stability and justifying the backlinks

I don't touch article directories, forum signatures, blog comments, etc. Sure they can work... In some cases they can help, and in some cases they can harm. But I avoid it simply because its not worth the time invested.

    Hope this helps,
    Diggity

The way to create quality links in 2014 and beyond is creating a private blog network.

Many SEO companies are building private blog networks now.

The reason why this works is there is no common pattern Google can detect.

    Quality links comprises of:

    Quality content
    High PR Domain
    Relevance

Apparently, you are still doing things the wrong way.

I suggest you pause your SEO campaign and learn the ins and outs first of all..

As an SEO consultant and head of my own firm, I can advise you the following without giving away the farm

    1) Web 2.0
    Benefits:
    - A combination of social media, blogspot, wordpress.com can help you get indexed very very fast.
    - Can provide results for very low competition long-tail keywords
    - If done properly, can increase avg time on page and decrease bounce rate (which indirectly boosts SEO)
    Disadvantages:
    - Minimal direct SEO impact

    Unique articles on article directories
    Benefits:
    - Assuming you don't spam the same anchor text backlinks and vary the webpages you link to (e.g. home & inner pages), it can help you can ranked decently for low competition long-tail keywords
    Disadvantages:
    - Used to be very effective a long time ago before Google's Penguins, Pandas, e.t.c. animals came in.
    - Minimal results now

    Blog on your domain
    Benefits:
    - Get traffic (and if content is useful/relevant, increases avg time on page & reduce bounce rate - indirectly improving SEO)
    - Helps you get ranked for relatively low competition, long-tail keywords
    Disadvantages:
    - None if you provide great and relevant content on your website's blog

The most effective way remains this:
+ Combination of varying anchor text & image backlinks
+ From relevant, authoritative websites (differing IP addresses as well)
+ linking to various webpages within your website (e.g. not only your home page.)

That's about it. Hope I answered you You can PM me if you want to find out more.

    Good luck!
