One of my favourite methods of link building

We all know that PR is not as important to your site as it once was but links do still matter especially if they are from authority sites.

About 6 months ago I got a piece of PLR software, rebranded it and published it to about 20 software/freeware sites with links to my site.

6 months later and I decide it's time to start benefiting from it. Most of the links now have a PR rating of some form and within 2 days of me putting up the homepage the page is ranked PR1. Not a huge gain you might say but I would suggest two things.

  • It's very tough to get ranked so quickly, usually using whitehat techniques it's a real struggle getting any form of ranking.
  • You are very much less likely to get sandboxed if you have quality backlinks and you have a PR rating of your own.
Most of these backlinks are from sites considered as authority and that passes on to you also.

I don't do any form of backlink campaign these days without incorporating some form of software development and suggest you consider the same.

What makes modern SEO interesting is "link age" plays a role in the google ranking algorithm, so if you want to rank for something in 6 months, you need to start building links now.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Yep... I don't really know if this is the reason but I do acquire many links from sites with good authority and I had never experience google sandbox, maybe its the consistency of the quality of backlink. I haven't tested that yet but maybe I will soon.

      I completely agree with this.

SEO is a long term strategy, what we do today may not have an effect for several months.

If your site is being crawled very often (depending on the type of crawl) you can get quick results from SEO, but for most sites it can take a few weeks at least.

Google also considers the age of the page that contains the link (as well as the link itself, as pointed out above).
