SEO on my blog, am I going to get hammered?

Hey guys I created a blog about two weeks ago and have been posting content and doing some SEO. Nothing major, only on-page SEO. I'm by far no SEO expert, to be honest I don't really have a clue.

For the past week all my keywords have just been staying around 100-130th position in Google. Almost every heading in my posts contain my keyword and I'm just wondering is this going to get me penalized or anything else in my posts? I just don't wanna put in all this work for my sites to get put hundreds of pages deep in Google.

What I'm asking is, could someone check out my posts and tell me if I'm doing anything wrong and any ideas on getting them to rank higher?

http://electronicreviewers.com

Thanks everyone, any help is greatly appreciated!
Adam

What kind of on-page SEO did you do exactly? Google won't exactly penalize you for your on-page SEO. The worst they will do is not rank you any higher for your current SEO.

All I do really is target the product name and review after it. I follow Yoast's SEO plugin also for keyword density, alt tags, etc.

The only off-page SEO I've done before was a few social bookmarks, videos and directory submissions.

Everything looks good. Don't be afraid of being slapped by Google! Just don't do spam backlinking and you will be fine!

I don't think you have anything to fear at the moment. You want to have the main keyword you are targeting in the heading of each page.

Already installed Yoast guys, still ranking very badly tho. I suppose I can't expect much better with a new site and no backlinks. What do you guys think I should do?

No need to worry just yet. Just focus on building high quality backlinks. Don't focus on bulk. Too many people doing SEO think you have to get a shitload of links.

When it comes to rankings its about the quality of the backlinks that you get not the quantity. If you can get both quantity and quality that will be even better.

With those long tail keywords it shouldn't be taking you that long to rank. Keep taking action though!

Adam, start with commenting on relevant blogs first.

Put this search term into G

    intitle:electronics "blog"
and copy top blogs URLs into an excel sheet. Make a list of at least 30-50 blogs.

Comment on their posts regularly. Please do not spam those blogs to death. Read their posts, put in your relevant comment and let it be authentic and related to that particular blog post.

    Simple but effective.

Note: You can replace electronics to any niche keyword you may plan to start later.

These are called footprints and many bloggers and SEOs use these in scraping or for backlink checking purposes.

You can find them in ton online. Here are a few that I use on a regular basis for clients.

        Web 2.0 FootPrints

        Code:
        "powered by wordpress"
        "powered by blogger"
        "powered by tumblr"
"Create a free website with weebly"
        "Powered By Elgg"
        intitle:"powered by jcow"

Despite popular opinion, I think that you're very over-optimized.

Using this page as an example:

    Samsung UN28H4000 Review

Your keyword is: samsung un28h4000 review

This is used 8 times on page. It's not over-kill given the amount of words you have on this page, but its pushing it.

What many people don't understand though, is that the individual words of a keyword string are important as well when it comes to keyword over-optimization.

    Samsung: 29 times
    un28h4000: 18 times
    Review: 42 times

In your meta description, you also have "Samsung un28h4000" twice.

I guarantee this is holding you back. This isn't based on speculation, this is based on personal testing.

Instead of Samsung, use 'model', 'product', 'TV'. You get the idea. Remove the categories widget on this particular page, its killing you.

Try it out on just this page and watch the result.

So, at this point, your affiliate product review blog is about two months old (maybe a little more) and you have a couple dozen pages. You are going to need a lot more pages and good content, not just specifically product reviews to rank alongside your affiliate competitors who are already dominating this niche. This is a highly profitable and extremely competitive niche and so many others are already there getting the traffic and money and you can't just put up a site and start competing right away. Take a look at the competitors who are on pages 1-100 of search results for your keywords you are targeting. What are they doing differently than you? How many pages are on those sites? Is it possible to add other content that supports the reviews, such as a subdirectory of articles related to televisions or electronics. Relying just on a few reviews as your content is a mistake.
