Hi Everybody,

We have used Google disavow tool to reduce the effect of bad links that we are unable to remove for our several websites. but haven't seen the significant impact on the websites listing yet, Though couple of accounts, which were affected with Google manual penalty have become free.

So would like to know whether to disavow the links give impact to only manual penalized websites? or anyone that has got notable improvements in their listing and traffic after submitting the doubtful bad links in disavow tool. and how speedy the positive response of disavow?

This is one of the brain storming queries that have been raised in many webmaster's mind, when Penguin impact is high.

Well, Using Google Disavow tool is the best option for cleaning up your profile but one more thing I would like to point is you just can't say after using it you will see bulk of traffic from the search engine in fact now you need to work even much more harder than ever because you're reputation is still not that much than it previously was in the eyes of search engine. Getting out from the Google penalty using the Disavow tool means you are out from the jail after a year of imprisonment and still people think you are a bad guy. So, you need to keep working !! So, I would say keep your heads up and keep on working in the correct manner. Until you've earn yourself a place.

    • Hi promo87,

      Thanks for your explanation,

so do you mean to say, it is useful only as a precautionary measures to avoid penguin effect in future but in present if we add links in disavow will not be effective???... if we update links in disavow tool, actually when we feel that it has given us the positive result?

  • It works. Give it 2 to 3 weeks. I use it to get rid of links from negative SEO attacks. So far so good.
  • I've used it as well for neg.seo attack. Just find out the links that are spammy/fishy and disavow the whole domain. Then upload the .txt file to your disavow tool.

I'm not 100% sure if it works, but I'm using it as a caution tool. So far so good
  • I have tried it. It can take a little while Google to access your file, but give it a couple of weeks and it should sort your site out.

    • I have used it once - but it took longer than 2-3 weeks to recover. The site in question took 3 months to recover. But, this site now has another presumed algo penalty, so I will have to use the disavow tool again. The current problem is hundreds of links to 2 sites with computer generated content.

I don't think that you have climbed into the third position in just a day? Have you? :p I am sure if you are telling the truth then you'll disagree using the disavow tool can't get you back to the ranking in a day. You must have done some legitimate work for more than 6months in order to climb up there....
