Different meta descriptions depending on search?

Client's having a problem:

I've set up their site with YOAST and have the meta descriptions for each page organised.
However, the meta description changes depending on what you search in Google, even though it points to the same page. How do I fix this? Sometimes it appears as the one I've created and sometimes it's the first line of the page.

Any help would be appreciated!

  • It happens. If G think their snippet works better they may display it instead of a meta desc. (in fact, I see this more and more now)

Check meta descs are right length, are written well, contain relevant keywords to the page and aren't duped (not easy if you have a bazillion pages/posts I know).

  • Yep, there's no fixing it. It's just Google taking liberty with what they choose to display.

Simply put, they feel their selection is more relevant to the query than the given meta desc.
