Well, if your article is duplicate means your ranking in Google can't be confirmed. It just depends on the search engine I would rather say you should be penealized by the humming bird for the content duplicity. :p Don't keep on thinking about getting ranked by the duplicated content I say if you know that your content is duplicate then you should change the content.

  • Like promo87 says, I'd say that it's "highly likely" Google looks at the whole page these days and a simple trick like changing the title won't work.

  • You must not use the duplicate content article because Google will surely recognize duplicate content and will penalize your website for this. Just write new and unique content, it will help you to increase traffic on the site and also improve the ranking of the site.

  • I totally agree with ChristinaCa, frenchseoteam, and promo87. Actually, I had an experience about duplicate content firsthand. I tried submitting the same content to about a hundred different article submission site. After a few weeks, the total number of links pointing back to my website increased. However, after a couple of months, I noticed that the total number of my back links gradually decreased, until one day, I had no back links at all! Talk about getting slapped by Google And so, in opinion, to spare yourself from Google's wrath, it's better to have a hundred percent unique and well-written article to start with. Try passing your article in Copyscape first to make sure your copy does not have a duplicate, which may be coincidental and unintentional on your part, in the internet.
  • As previously mentioned. Try writing you own content. by all means use other articles and blogs as an initial idea to then expand upon.

    • There have been numerous threads on warrior forum discussing the subject of duplicate content . The consensus is that duplicate content on external websites isn't a problem. Think 'syndication'.

The issue of duplicate content only arises if content is repeated on the same domain.
  • Just stay away from such articles. Duplicated content is just like a NEGATIVE vote for your website. SE"s don't like such blogs/websites that post duplicated content. At least you should rewrite it (and even this sometimes can't be a 100% sure way that everything will be OK!)...
  • Unlikely, but you didn't specify what percentage of the content has been changed. Are you just editing the title?
  • Or don't write it at all - let a script do it.
  • Duplicate contents are not good for your website. It makes a negative effect for your website on the internet. According to google rules and newly updated algorithms if you use any spamming or duplicate content on your website or while creating backlinks then you will get penalized.
  • One of the easiest ways to determine if your duplicate content is going to hurt your site is by asking yourself why you want to duplicate the content.

There are two kinds of duplicate content, onsite and offsite. Onsite duplication is content that is duplicated on two or more pages of your own site. Offsite duplication is when the content of one site is displayed on other websites. Onsite duplication is an issue you have control over while offsite duplication may be beyond your control. Both are problematic.
  • I would like to suggest you to remove these duplicate articles from your website. May be in the begining you will get ranked in SERP but as the boat found the duplicate content, then they will surely penalize your site and maybe at that time it will be difficult for you to remove all those articles which you have promoted. So try to keep your site updated with new and fresh articles with high quality content which will always remain unique and you can get the advantage of it.

    • Good explanation for the question. I have one more doubt in this, some body adding some content in the copied content and posting. Is this is a good way?
  • Duplicate content websites are being hit by Google Panda Update 4.0 these days.So never go for it.

    • So, google, ebay, youtube, amazon, yahoo, NYT, wikipedia,....are being hit?

So much misinformation about duplicate content, this thread is pathetic.

Why do you people get the vapors en masse when anyone just whispers,
      "Duplicate content?"

      Paul
  • Duplicate articles won't rank, as if they are not passed off as spam, the article result will be omitted which ruins the rankings of the original anyway.

  • If the article is too close to some other piece of content Google could bury it. It's could be too far for anyone to find it, or in their suplemental index aka "omitted results".

  • Never Ever you will get ranked in SERP ,if your website has duplicate content

  • Many folks are confuse about this subject. But here's the deal if you check copyscape and your site is the first one shown for your article than you are fine. You can rank your article or page easily even if it's duplicate, interesting .
