Anyone who builds backlinks knows that a finding a list of
high-quality, niche-relevant blogs is like finding a pot of gold.

Did you know that bloggers in your niche create these lists for you in the form of "best of" blog posts?

"Best of" blog posts are simply lists of the best blogs in a specific
industry/niche.

How can you find these "best of" blog posts?

Use these search strings:

"[keyword] blogs to follow"

"best [keyword] posts 2014″

"top [keyword] blogs to follow" + "2014″

For example, by typing this into Google "internet marketing blogs to follow", I
found this list after 2 seconds of searching:
5 Best Internet Marketing Blogs to Follow | Five Technology

Now, what can you do with this list? Reach out to the webmaster offering to write content for his blog in exchange for a backlink to your site, find link opportunities on the site itself, find broken links, ask the blog owner if he'd put your banner on his site for a fee, build a long-term relationship with the blog owner (perhaps in the future he may be willing to promote your site/offer to his list of subscribers).

Great advice. Here's my addition to your statement below

Spider those blogs and find their most compelling content. Figure out why certain posts are so popular in social media and attracts so much backlinks. Create your own BETTER version. Get link sources to link to your page too

    @strategic seo services

Why are you stealing other peoples work and ideas and trying to claim credit for them?

I thinks it's because you know absolutely nothing about SEO and lack any original thought.

But big shout out to Brian Dean for giving us this info the first time around.

        Yeah he prob does.

But that's like me NOT crediting you with the whole video thumbnail thing. I found that on search, but came to you for advice on best practice.

We call that "added value" which is exactly what Brian does with a lot of his publishing. Nothing wrong with that.

I've never attempted to claim self hosted video thumbnails as my own, I've even posted where/how I figured out some of the video/SEO.

I've also encouraged most people looking to get self hosted videos in Google SERPs to buy the Yoast video plugin (example). I've done that without getting paid anything in return. I gave credit where credit was due.

Anyways, I doubt that list is original ideas. Where's the credit besides the moz schmoozing links?
