I've been asking the same thing in regards to the stop word how.

What if the actual keyword has the stop word how in it. I would like to optimized my page/article with how in it.

How can I do it if Google ignores the stop word it?

Google does not ignore it. Every search gets what google
thinks you mean. If the word is required for a search, dang
straight they'll not only find it, but show it.

How is "how" a stop word?

Google cannot possibly ignore such words. They might not
show them, in all cases, but ignore? Never.

Emphasize, might be a better way to describe some words.

If you think "how" is a stop word, just type it into google
and see what happens. Let's say you go for
      how to tie a tie
      Now, what pops up first?

Google takes each search and decides what words to keep,
ignore, and even change. You cannot make a blanket statement
      about so-called stop words.

I think it depends on the context of the search phrase.

Example, a book title or a song title, both searches the words I'm the best:
Stop words aren't always the same since Hummingbird. In the old days stop words were pretty obvious because Google wouldn't bold them in the SERPs (or rarely bold them).
