PR stands for PageRank. The higher the PR, the more authority and trust the site has in Google's eyes. Pr ranges from 0-10, but very few sites manage to score above PR9.

As i know,it goes like this.Typing your keywords on the search engines and see your site on the first page. That is,the most recent site indicates high page rank.

Pagerank 5 means that Google Believes in the site and gave it a high rank. The calculation of a high page rank is a cobination of a few factors like number of backlinks to the site, number of visitors to the site, and a lot more factors that are decided by Google.

But the best way to understand what's a page rank is to look on the words

People obsess about Page Rank. If you can get a PR5 site these days, you've got a big leg up. Very difficult because I think one of the major factors is the time its been up.

Just build a good website. Keep it fresh. If you do that you will see your PR rise in 3 to 6 months. You can also work on getting links to your site if you have the time or the money to pay someone to do it.

Don't spend too much energy on PR, it's not the holy grail that people think it is.

It's important but it shouldn't outweigh the other aspects of building a great site. It can take some time for PR to be passed on too, so you may not see the results of your efforts for a a while.

I agree with the above, spend time making a quality site and the PR will follow.
