Hey guys! Thank you for taking the time to review this thread! I have a question for you SEO Gurus and would highly appreciate any and all information you are willing to share.

Question: A friend and I are starting a website that will provide visitor information related to things you can do in our town of Cody Wyoming. I have a keyword rich domain which is visitcodywyoming.com. Now, if I got back links from authority websites related to cody wyoming, such as codychamber.org, cody-wy.gov, and a few other websites that are page one on the serps for the keyword Cody Wyoming, do you think those links will give us a massive boost in the serps?

Thanks for any and all comments!
J

Yup, you have the right idea. That should work. Just make sure to vary your anchor text backlinks. With you having a exact match domain. It may be easy to trigger an over optimization penalty.

    Hi,

That's the right idea. Make sure that your anchor text which your using to link back contain targeted keywords related to your site. Next, if you focus on .org, .gov and more importantly .edu, these are high powered links and can really benefit you in the long run. Google has made many changes so focus on high quality links from high authority sites. Don't trust anyone building links with software.

Spread out the link building process making it natural.

    Good Luck,

You should be fine. How are you getting links. Are you building them writing articles or have you hired someone to?

      That is complete horsecrap.

.gov and .edu links to not have any added weight. I wish people would stop spreading this lie and misleading people.

If those authority websites are providing you with dofollow backlinks, then those backlinks should definitely help boost your site in the SERPs. You have to take the competitiveness of your targeted keywords into account. If they are very competitive, then they'll take longer to rank. Also, make sure that your site is well optimized. That will also help with rankings.

Yes, only if they are truly an authority site and relevant to your niche.
